Guests Step In For Deceased Father During Wedding Dance In Washington State

Renee Addy had long dreamed of falling in love and getting married. Thoughts of seeing her beloved in front of her as they spoke their vows to each other and kissed before spending the rest of their lives together were special to her. So was one other special element of those festivities. She dreamt of her father, Glenn, walking her down the aisle. However, in 2013, he succumbed to cancer, and neither of them would be able to share that special experience. Actually, he did, in spirit.
Over the following years, she and her boyfriend, John, fell deeper and deeper in love and got engaged. As Inside Edition reports, four years after her father died, the two got married in an emotional ceremony for all involved, which took place in Tacoma, Wash. Her father's spirit was symbolized by his old biker jacket, which was draped over one of the seats and otherwise was left empty. An especially touching photograph captures a tearful Renee looking over the seat, desperately wanting him to be there with her.

When Renee walked down the aisle, she did so with a picture of him that was placed inside a locket clipped to her shoe so that he actually was able to walk her down the aisle after all.
However, what was arguably the most touching moment of the festivities took place at the reception that followed. That's where the traditional father-daughter dance was set to take place. What Renee didn't know was what several of those who are close to her and him had planned for the two of them.
"Dance with My Father," as performed by Celine Dion, was being played over the public address system. This song's emotional lyrics include, "How I'd love love love love to dance with my father again." As her voice reverberated off of the venue's walls, one person after another danced with Renee, all bringing the spirit of Glenn with them during that dance. They included her three brothers, her uncle and Glenn's best friend.
As was no surprise to anybody there, Renee could not hold back the tears as she danced with all of those loved ones while thoughts of Glenn flooded through her mind.
Have you witnessed a similar situation at a wedding ceremony? How was the bride's father honored during this time? Or was this part of the ceremony simply skipped due to it being too emotional of a moment?
