It’s a much simpler process than most people think it is. In fact, follow these five easy steps to grow your own pineapple, anywhere in your home. Just remember, patience is the key to growing this tropical fruit.

1.Remove the Crown

Start off with a fresh pineapple from your local fruit stand or grocery store. Twist the top of the pineapple until the crown comes completely off. Set the severed crown aside for a few days to let the stalk dry. This prevents the crown from rotting when you re-plant it.

2.Set it in Water

Pull off a couple of the bottom leaves until you can see roots. Fill up a glass or jar with room temperature water and place the crown on top of the container. Let it sit for a few days until you see roots coming out from the bottom. You will want to wait until they are at least one inch in length before planting.

3.Plant in Soil

When the crown has grown roots that are long enough to take hold, plant the whole thing in fresh soil. Take a flower pot and fill with soil, plant the crown an inch-deep, and then water just enough to make the soil moist.

4.Water Every Day

Use a spray bottle to water your pineapple every day. You don’t want the soil to be soaking wet, only moist.

5. Enjoy Your Fresh Fruit

Once the pineapple has grown, it’s ready to eat! Pull it off of the top of the plant and slice it open to enjoy.
