The moment when a bride walks down the aisle to her groom to say “I do” and start their “happily ever after” is always an emotional one. However, during a wedding held at Hawkstone Hall Hotel & Gardens in Marchamley, England, which was filmed on Dec. 28, 2024, the groom was moved to tears even before his bride walked down the aisle.

In a touching moment that captured global attention and moved the hearts of netizens, the groom received the sweetest surprise on his wedding day. The groom, Elliot Gwilliam, 34, was waiting for his bride, Emma Beddow, 27, at the altar when a recording of their 3-year-old daughter, Evie, was played on the public address system before the bride walked down the aisle. The wedding videographer, Owen Bloor of JOL Videography, captured the viral moment and posted the adorable interaction on social media on Jan. 2, 2025.

The video began with Gwilliam standing at the altar before Evie’s adorable voice was heard through the sound system.

“Hello daddy, it’s me, Evie,” the voice of the toddler could be heard on the loudspeaker. “I’m walking down the aisle and will see you now because you’re going to marry my mommy – and she looks beautiful. Like me.”

Gwilliam was instantly moved to tears by the heartfelt message, and he shook his head in disbelief as he smiled through his tears. An attendee off-camera handed him some tissues to wipe his tears as the sweet message continued:

“We love you so, so much, to the moon and back,” Evie said. “Love you lots and lots, like Jelly Tots. See you in a minute. See ya, don’t wanna be ya. See you, alligator.”

This adorable clip garnered over 120 million views on social media. Gwilliam recalled his anticipation for Emma walking down the aisle, saying:

“It’s unreal. We’d been planning the wedding for about 12 months. I actually wasn’t nervous as I stood there waiting for Emma. I thought, ‘Nah, I’ve got this.’ Then I heard Evie’s voice, and within moments, I was gone. I don’t think I managed to pull myself together until Emma was alongside me.”

He added that he couldn’t help crying once he heard his daughter’s voice.

“I did not stand a chance. But I wasn‘t the only one. There wasn‘t a dry eye in the house, especially when Evie came down the aisle as one of the flower girls. She is such a character and always keeps us on our toes.”

The wedding videographer also expressed his pleasant excitement at the now-viral video, saying:

“I can‘t believe how crazy it‘s gone. I'm so happy for the couple as well, because it‘s such a moment that people are going absolutely mental for; it‘s lovely.”

As to how the recording came about, Bloor explained:

“Emma, the bride, messaged me a few days before and said, ‘I’d love to do this idea.‘”

The moment also touched the wedding guests, leaving not a dry eye in the room, proving that weddings are always filled with love.

“I started bawling as soon as it started,” one guest said.
