Great Dane Has Tantrum When Mom Doesn’t Allow Him To Go Swimming

Some dogs either love water or hate it, and this Great Dane named Max clearly falls into the latter category. After his mom wouldn't let him get into the swimming pool because he was still wearing his jacket, Max stood beside the pool and whined and sulked, crying his little heart out. This video from 2017 is somehow sad but also adorable to watch.

Some dogs absolutely adore the water, and Max is one of them. However, Max clearly thinks his mother is abusing him, based on his reaction to her telling him he couldn't get in the swimming pool right now this second. His mom let him know that he couldn't get in the pool because he was wearing his jacket, and he found that entirely unacceptable. His mom decided to record his complaints, and we are thankful she did because it's adorable.

Not every dog likes the water, but Max very clearly does. According to his owner, Max enjoys going for a swim in the pool. He will go outside while his mom sits on the patio and will patiently ask for permission to jump in. This time, however, he was told no—all because he was wearing his clothes.

Due to their relatively short coats, Great Danes get cold frequently. Max, however, still likes to take a swim whenever he gets the chance. On this faithful day, however, his mom left the jacket he was wearing inside on, so she had to tell him no. He did not take kindly to that.

Max starts whining, whimpering, and pawing at the edge of the pool. He's quite unhappy at this point. His mom is insistent, though, that he cannot get in the pool while he is wearing his jacket. When you think about it, it only makes sense that's the case. If you've ever tried jumping into a pool with your clothes on, you know it's not comfortable. Plus, his jacket would get all wet, and how would Max stay warm?

He still doesn't care, though. He looks at the water, and there's a brief moment where it seems like he might decide to jump in anyway. He looks over at his mom, getting suspiciously close to the edge of the pool, and then glances over his shoulder. It's almost as if he is checking to make sure no one is watching him.

His mom tells him no, once again, and Max lets out the saddest cry we have ever heard. He had tried whining, complaining, and negotiating his way into being allowed to get in the pool. Now, he'd thought about just doing it anyway, and his mom still told him no. Clearly, Max's life is terribly unfair, and he wants everyone to know about it.

He backs away from the edge just a little bit, and his mom laughs at him. Clearly, this conversation has happened before—though maybe not with quite as much whining and pouting involved. She comments, "Well, now I know how to keep you out of the pool." We can't imagine how many times Max went swimming, resulting in his mother having to dry him off before he goes back indoors.

Great Danes are very large animals, so it takes quite a bit of effort to get them clean and dry. Not to mention, after swimming in a chlorinated pool, Max likely needs to be rinsed off again. This way, the chlorine doesn't irritate his skin.

Obviously, Max enjoys swimming, and he's not happy that his mom won't let him. His mom, in return, finds it hilarious that he throws a temper tantrum worthy of an Oscar in an attempt to persuade her. Unfortunately, Max doesn't get to go inside the pool, but we got to see just how silly he is.
