Grandson Finds Out Grandmother Has Never Seen The Ocean So He Brings Her On Legendary Trip

There's a hard truth that everyone has to learn — our parents and grandparents won't be with us forever. Time is much shorter than we think so we need to make the most of the days we have with the people we love.

One young man took this advice to heart. Brad Ryan decided that he needed a break from his life in Washington, D.C. He'd been feeling stressed from veterinary school and personal issues. He went back to Ohio to spend time with his grandmother, Joy. While catching up with his Grandma Joy, he learned something that stunned him. In all of her 85 years, she had never traveled far from her roots. She hadn't done any of the things that Brad took for granted — things like camping and enjoying the natural beauty of the ocean and mountains.

Brad couldn't rest until he'd changed that. He decided that it was time for his grandmother to experience all the things she'd never gotten the chance to. Most importantly, she would experience those things with Brad by her side.

"I felt a calling to ensure she was not forgotten and that she was given the opportunity to live the life of adventure she had never been able to fulfill," said Brad to WUSA9.

Brad and Grandma Joy began their adventure in 2015 and have been traveling the country to visit national parks. They managed to tour 29 of them so far and Grandma Joy finally got to see the mountains she'd dreamed of.

She also finally got to see the ocean. What made it extra special is that she got to see them with her beloved grandson. Their adventure didn't end there. The two have continued their travels. Grandma Joy has now been to 38 states and counting. She's seen sand dunes, caves, the desert, and forests.

Every moment of their travels is a memory that Brad can hold onto forever. This beautiful story is a great reminder that we should live our lives to the fullest — and appreciate our loved ones while they're still here with us.
