Tornados are terrifying events that can cause significant damage to the impacted areas. Unlike hurricanes, a tornado's development is incredibly difficult to track.

Meteorologists can identify clouds that have the potential to develop tornados, but their exact origins are seemingly random.

When the perfect conditions are met, tornados appear. They are very elusive and destructive events.

When these natural disasters do occur, they can cause significant damage within a few minutes of creation. Countless families in the southern portion of the United States can testify to the strength of these events.

Many people attribute God's grace to the area's that are spared in the path of a tornado's destruction.

According to a report by WSFA, Crawford Tatum and his family were lucky enough to receive this grace as a tornado ripped through their farm on March 4th. Tatum was working in his truck when the twister touched the ground. Tatum's son encouraged him to enter the barn with the grandchildren.

Payton Tatum, who is Crawford's daughter in law, called the ordeal a miracle.

"By God's grace they survived," she told WSFA

On March 17th, a group of preschoolers in Kentucky experienced an even closer experience with death. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, a tornado hit the Mount Zion Baptist Church in McCracken County. 40 preschoolers were ushered into the building's innermost room when the tornado struck.

It tore the roof off of the church and bulldozed the nursery. During the tornado, the children were singing church songs and praying for grace from the Lord. Although the building was devastated, every child survived miraculously.

FOX reported on another family in Alabama had a similar experience in March when an EF4 tornado struck their home. The family gathered in their prayer closet to escape the strong winds.

The grandmother of the family had exclusively used this room for praying to God. This day would certainly be no exception to that rule.

The family prayed as the tornado was tearing their house apart. Chaplain Jason Smith was shocked upon seeing the aftermath.
