Birthdays are one of the holidays that almost every culture in the world acknowledges. Birthdays can be a time of fun and awesome memories. Many people remember their birthdays from years ago.

Though birthdays are great and all, sometimes they can be sad. Nothing is worse than having no one show up to your birthday party.

Sadly, nine-year-old Gerald Hamilton was so incredibly excited to have his birthday party. He had invited 30 of his classmates to join him in celebration. At least twelve classmates were expected to come. None of them did. An hour went by and no one had shown up yet. Two hours later and still no one in sight. Gerald's mother asked if he wanted to cut the cake yet, but he said to wait just in case one of his friends showed up. Sadly, no friends showed up.

Gerald underwent five skull expansion surgeries in his life. Due to this, he is slower than the rest of his peers. Regardless of that, he is one of the kindest people his grandmother knows. He often plays alone with cars.

Gerald's family says his differences make him unique. Unfortunately, the world can be quite cruel sometimes. Gerald's classmates and their families did not agree about his uniqueness.

When Gerald's mom called the twelve parents about their whereabouts they said he was too different and they did not feel comfortable with their children playing with him or attending his birthday party.

Many of Gerald's family members came to his party to show their unconditional love and support towards the little guy.

Gerald's grandmother, Amelia, was angry and hurt over this. She vented on Facebook about the ordeal. Additionally, she shared the reasons why the other children didn't come to the birthday party.

She told anyone who wants to send him a card or present can send them to her and she'll be sure he gets them. It's her mission as his grandmother to get him as many cards as possible.

Her post got over 2,500 likes on Facebook. Strangers from around the world sent Gerald birthday cards and presents. He received a lot of toy cars for his birthday which he absolutely loved.

Thankfully, the world does have some kindness in it, as seen by Gerald's story and the warmth of strangers.
