Grandma With Alzheimer’s Has Adorably Jolly Reaction To Fast Car Rides With Her Son

One Australian grandma named Hendrika, who is 87-years-old and has Alzheimer's, has discovered her need for speed after her son Jason took her on a drive around their neighborhood amid lockdown due to coronavirus.

When Jason would drive fast—within the speed limit of course—Henrika's face would light up with joy and she'd even imitate car noises. Now the two spend time going on drives together, and it's heartwarming to see.

Residing on Australia's Central Coast, Hendrika and Jason are a mother and son pair who love to spend time together. Sadly, Hendrika is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Her son Jason usually takes her around their neighborhood to run her errands, but with businesses closed due to the pandemic, Hendrika was missing her outings in the car with her son.

Despite the current state of things, Hendrika still wanted to leave the house once in a while, so Jason decided that going on little drives around the neighborhood would be the best solution. Well, thanks to this lovely time shared between mother and son, Hendrika has discovered her need for speed, and she can't get enough!

After Jason asks her if she's ready to go fast, Hendrika confirms that yes she is, then Jason speeds up the car, and Hendrika begins having the time of her life! She even makes noises imitating the car engine, saying "Vroom vroom" and "Brrr brrr." It's too sweet, especially knowing that she has Alzheimer's, and not only is it bringing her joy, but it's a way for her and Jason to spend quality time in each other's company.

The coronavirus pandemic has virtually stopped the world in its tracks, temporarily closing down businesses and life as we know it. It's important to keep up some normalcy in this bizarre period and it's so sweet to see families come together however they can. For Jason to keep up his drives with his mom shows the depth of their love, and for Hendrika to continue to get the little joys in her day makes a huge difference.

Jason told Newsflare: "In lockdown and unable to visit her weekly shops, she's now satisfied with a quick spin around the suburb... within the speed limit of course!" Hendrika proves that it's never too late in life to discover a new interest, even if that is a need for speed!

In the video, their exchange is delightful to watch, from Jason asking his mother "You want to go fast?" to which Hendrika replies "Yes, vroom!" As the car speeds up she continues with an excited exclamation of "Vroooooom" before Jason jokingly says "Alright slow down tiger." Jason and Hendrika are a perfect example of a loving family who are enjoying the little moments in life right now. Here's to many more fun car rides for the two!
