Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie had the ultimate clap back after HBO didn’t submit her as a nomination for the 2019 Emmy Awards.

Much in tune with the strong feminist character she plays in the show, she nominated herself.

We will all have to bend the knee to Gwendoline Christie after she not only nominated herself for an Emmy but secured the nomination from the academy. The actress posted a photo of an email from the academy on Instagram, which read,

“Congratulations! You have been nominated for an Emmy Award in the category of Drama, Supporting actress for your performance in “Game of Thrones.”

Throughout the series, Brienne proves her worth as a fierce warrior against all the odds, eventually being declared the first female Knight by Jamie Lannister ( Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). Similarly, in real life, Christie showed her value with her self-nomination.

It cost about $225 for the entry fee which  The Hollywood Reporter said that while it is not uncommon for actors to self-nominate, it is rare for them to secure the nominations.

HBO confirmed to the tabloid that it did not enter Christie for a nomination but it did enter Kit Harington for his role as Jon Snow, and Emilia Clarke for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen for the best lead actor and actress categories.

The network also submitted entries in the supporting actor category for Lena Headey(Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner(Sansa Stark) and Maisie Williams(Arya Stark). All of whom ended up securing nominations as well.

We will have to see come September who will bring home the win. What do you think about Gwendoline Christie's self-nomination? Let us know in the comments - and make sure you pass this along to your friends and family!
