The story picks up eight years after the last episode when we find out—Spoiler alert!— That Dan is gossip girl. Sadly, there’s no word that Dan, Serena, Blair, or Chuck will be returning to this version, at least not yet.

The cast and characters will be new, but the shows original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will return as executive producers. Deadline confirms that the 10-episode run will be written by Joshua Safran, an original executive producer.

The original series famously tackled the rise of social media, and this reboot will look at how the landscape has changed as well as that of New York City itself. The direction of Gossip Girl’s social surveillance will sure change from a simple blog to a complete reinvention, said a statement released to Deadline.

The cultural influence of the original series, which ran from 2007-2012 is undeniable, and we all wanted to be rich Upper East Side private school students dressed in Jimmy Choos. It also opened Manhattan up to the rest of the world just like “Sex And The City” did years earlier. The Met steps will never look the same.

Now we can’t for the new juicy gossip and devious twists and turns among the new generation of good-looking rich kids. Will they be Instagram influencers? Will they swap their Chanel for Alexander Wang? The secrets will come out when HBO Max starts streaming in 2020 says HBO.com.

And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell! XOXO, Gossip Girl

So break out your headbands and martinis and tell the Serena van der Woodsen to your Blair Waldorf about the big news. Take our money, HBO Max!
