Losing a pregnancy is one of the most devastating things a family can go through, and for Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana, her miscarriage in 2016 was heartbreaking. In a tweet from 2016, Gordon Ramsay says that his wife had lost their son at 5 months, and reiterated that his family was devastated but healing together. Speaking of that difficult time to Metro UK on November 16, Tana Ramsay said that "no one would talk to her about it."

"I have to be honest when it happened to me, I found it really hard when people would talk to me and not mention it because it was like it never happened," she said. "All I wanted to do was talk about it with friends, with family, with anyone who asked me about it because it was incredibly hard."

Ramsay also praised Chrissy Teigen for her bravery and speaking out about her miscarriage in October this year. Teigen released a heartfelt essay a month after her loss, where she revealed that she was 20 weeks along at the time and that a partial placental abruption caused her to miscarry, reports CBS News. She also thanked her fans for their support and delved into the emotional pain she continues to experience after all of it was over.

Speaking of Teigen, Tana said, "I find it very emotional and I thought she was amazing. When I read about her situation, I don’t know the ins and outs, but certainly a lot of it sounded incredibly similar to mine."  She added, "It brings it all back and I think she was amazing for talking about it and posting the photos that she did."

The process of miscarriage can be traumatic for a woman, and it does not end after leaving the hospital. The heartbreaking experience of a miscarriage stays with a person for long afterward, and BBC reports that "one in six women who lose a baby in early pregnancy experiences long-term symptoms of post-traumatic stress," according to a study done in the UK.

Tana said, "You go from having a baby kicking inside of you to suddenly it’s not there, and it was a really hard experience." The aftermath of her miscarriage also impacted her body, and Tana said that her body was "getting ready to breastfeed, but there was no baby."

Tana was grateful for her husband's support during that difficult time and said, "Gordon was amazing, and he’s always been one to talk about everything and he was very good at sort of talking it out of me and never making me feel that, 'Oh, you know, maybe we shouldn’t talk about it'."

Since her miscarriage, Tana fell pregnant again in 2018 and the Ramsay family welcomed son Oscar in April 2019. She now shares five children together with her 54-year-old husband: daughter Megan, 22, twins Jack and Holly who are 20, daughter Matilda, 19, and 19-month-old Oscar. Apart from her experience with miscarriage, Tana also delved into her experience of having babies who are born prematurely, as was the case with her twins, Jack and Holly.

"It was completely unexpected," Tana explained to Metro. "I think as a mother you think 'Did I do too much? Did I not rest enough?' But I just woke up and I was going into labor and then you’re thrown into this world of uncertainty." She also added, "You go to having people looking after your babies that you have been looking after. It was a really scary time."

Ramsay also expressed that she felt a lot of anxiety and fear following her early labor, and remembers thinking, “The world is carrying on as normal and my life is suddenly completely out of my control.” The twins were born 7 weeks early and had to be on a ventilator for 24 hours according to Metro. Their family is now a strong unit, and everyone continues to share a close bond together.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2014 in the video below, Tana said that her husband was a "total pushover" when it comes to his kids. For those who know the fiery-tempered Gordon Ramsay from shows such as Hell's Kitchen and Masterchef, "pushover" is not a word anyone would use for him. However, kids and family bring out the best in everyone, and we love hearing that Gordon Ramsay has a soft side.
