According to Daily Mail, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay's eldest son decided to join the Royal Marines.

After living a luxurious life for the past 20 years, Jack Ramsay is leaving his father's £200 million fortune behind, to earn £18,000 a year as a Marine recruit.

The then-20-year-old began his 32-week basic training at the end of 2019 without trying to receive any public attention or recognition. If he continues to perform well, he might be awarded with a coveted green beret this fall.

Jack could have started out as a young officer due to his high level of education and his exceeding A-level results, but instead, he chose to enlist as a marine. Therefore he will be trained alongside recruits from all educational backgrounds, some might not even have any academic qualifications.

According to Daily Mail, a source at the Royal Marines' Commando Training Centre at Lympstone, Devon, revealed Gordon Ramsay's son had a strong start saying that other recruits seem to like and accept Jack.

"First and foremost, he is just another marine recruit to us, a 'bod'. There's no nepotism here and no favoritism", the source told Daily Mail. "He's getting his head down and delivering the goods so far. He seems fit and is well-liked. Not surprisingly, there's a lot of good-natured banter when Jack and his mates sit down to eat and when they're on a field exercise about who should prepare the rations."

Jack Ramsay has lived quite a luxurious life up until now. Jack got a rare Rolex watch valued at £10,000 for his 18th birthday, and spend beautiful vacations all over the world, some pictures even show him on a gondola in Venice with Brooklyn Beckham.

But Jack decided to leave his designer clothes and his pampered lifestyle behind and joined one of Britain's toughest military units. It's remarkable to see him going from studying at Exeter University to starting his career as a Royal Marines recruit.

In his life, Jack Ramsay has always been into sports. He was a member of the rugby team in his school as well as his college and furthermore loved water polo, triathlons, and judo.

His passion for sports helped prepare him for the physically demanding marines training. Nowadays he has to take part in assault courses, endurance marches as well as gym tests.

Though Jack's choice to join the Royal Marines may have come as a surprise, the celebrity chef's son has expressed his desire to find out who he really is without his father's fortune and luxury life.

In the 2019 documentary, Born Famous, he revealed: 'I have grown up in a bubble. I've never had to fight or do anything for myself. I don't know what I'm like without everything I've got.'
