Good News For Prince Harry & Meghan Markle As Stars Align For First Family Visit To U.K. In Years

A planned visit to the United Kingdom by Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet has put the Sussex family back at the center of royal attention, with the trip tied to charity work, security questions and the possibility of private family reunions.

A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed that the couple intended to travel to Britain with their children in July 2026, according to ABC News. It would mark Archie and Lilibet’s first publicly known visit to the U.K. since June 2022, when the family attended celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Meghan’s last publicly known visit to Britain was in September 2022, when she and Harry attended events connected to the Queen’s funeral.

The trip is linked to Harry’s ongoing work with the Invictus Games Foundation and other charities. The Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 are scheduled for July 10 to July 17, 2027, and organizers say the event will bring together 550 competitors from more than 25 nations, supported by friends and family, across 12 adaptive sports.

Yet the family’s plans remain shaped by Harry’s long-running concerns over security in the U.K. The Guardian reported that the visit was thrown into doubt after a request for police protection was refused. Harry has said the issue affects his ability to safely bring Meghan and their children to Britain.

That tension gives the journey wider meaning. For supporters, it represents a chance for Harry to connect his family with causes rooted in Britain. For royal watchers, it raises questions about trust, safety and whether private family ties can survive years of public strain.

The visit would also carry emotional weight for King Charles, who has had limited in-person time with his California-based grandchildren since Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020. No meeting with the King has been officially announced, and a reunion with Prince William appears less likely because of the continuing rift between the brothers.

Harry has publicly said he wants peace with his family. Speaking to the BBC in May 2025, after losing a legal challenge over his U.K. security arrangements, he said:

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore.”

The Duke’s public schedule is expected to focus on service, recovery and military families. Alongside Invictus-related events, Harry’s charitable work includes his role as patron of WellChild, which supports seriously ill children and their families, and his role as global ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity for bereaved military children and young people.

There is also speculation around Althorp, the Spencer family estate, where Princess Diana is buried. Althorp’s official website lists its 2026 summer opening from July 1 to August 31 and notes closures on July 10 and July 11. However, no visit by Harry, Meghan or their children, Archie and Lilibet, has been confirmed.

For now, the planned journey stands at the intersection of public duty and private family history: a royal return shaped by charity, security and the unresolved question of reconciliation. Whatever final form the visit takes, its significance lies not only in public appearances but in whether Britain can once again become a place where Harry feels able to bring his children safely. It also shows how royal stories often blend institutional duty with deeply personal questions of belonging.
