Cass Elliot is a true musical legend. Her smooth and sultry singing voice is instantly recognizable. Along with the Mamas and the Papas, Elliot recorded a lovely rendition of the song “Dream a Little Dream of Me.” Even all of these years later, this song remains a favorite for millions of people.

Although she tragically passed away due to heart failure at the young age of 32, Elliot accomplished so much in her short life and career. Her family originally knew her as Ellen Naomi Cohen. She changed her first name in honor of famous actress Peggy Cass. The Elliot part of the name was to honor a friend who had passed away.

Elliot became invested in acting when she was a student at Forest Park High School. It did not take long for her to move to New York City to work on launching her career as an entertainer.

Her musical career really took off after her move to Washington, DC. She joined up with the Mamas and the Papas and together they produced beautiful music that has stood the test of time. Elliot's work with the Mamas and the Papas is what put her into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posthumously. This honor was clearly deserved.

This particular performance was when Elliot guest-starred on The Smothers Brothers. You will swoon when you hear her sing this classic song. After you have watched this clip, be sure to spread the memory to all of your friends and family. It will surely bring back memories of the good ole days.
