Goldie Hawn's Family's Baby Joy Revealed As Star Becomes Grandmother Once More

Goldie Hawn has had a prolific acting career throughout her life, but she has never let that get in the way of her personal life. With Kurt Russell, a partner of 37 years, Hawn has set out the ultimate couple goals, and the bar is set quite high when one looks at their adorable photos and their journey. In an industry where real-life romances don't last very long, Kurt and Hawn have been together since 1983 for almost four decades and are an inspiration.

The ageless beauty Hawn has raised her kids to be good people and is now helping out with her grandchildren! With four children and six grandchildren, Hawn certainly has her hands full as a grandma. Hawn and Kurth have become grandparents once again as their son Wyatt Russell and Meredith Hagner welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into the world! While the exact date that Buddy Prine Russell was born is not yet known, Hagner revealed the big news in an Instagram post on March 12, 2021. We are sure that the whole family is overjoyed to welcome another little one into their brood.

Hawn is one of the most well-known actresses in Hollywood, and her daughter Kate Hudson also falls into the same category. For the "Cactus Flower" actress, however, family often comes above everything else. According to Hello! Magazine, Hawn is "incredibly close" to all her grandchildren and was even present for all of their births. Hawn told Australian Women's Weekly, "A good family is the answer to happiness." 

She added,

"I look at our kids and grandchildren and there's nothing in the world that could make me as proud as I am of all of them. Being a grandmother is amazing, I love it. It brings incredible joy. Family is so important."

Hawn's partner of 37 years, Kurt, also plays a big part in their family's life. The fact that the couple has been married for nearly 40 years just goes to show their commitment to family life. The couple share son Wyatt, and have co-parented all their children in their blended family. Kurt had son Boston Russell from a previous marriage to Season Hubley, while Hawn has children Kate and Oliver with ex-husband Bill Hudson.

From Hawn's side, the couple has six grandchildren. Oliver shares three children with his wife Erinn Bartlett: Wilder, 13, Bodhi, 10, and Rio, 6. Meanwhile, Hawn is also grandmother to Kate's three children: Ryder, 16, Bingham, 9, from her previous marriage to Matt Bellamy, and 1-year-old Rani with singer Danny Fujikawa.

It is clear that everyone in the family is quite close, especially when seeing Hawn's Instagram page, which is filled with pictures of her children and grandchildren. Most recently, Wyatt welcomed his first child, a son, with his wife Hagner! The couple named him Buddy, and we are sure that everyone is completely delighted to have this new blessing brought into their close-knit family. While the date of Buddy's birth is not yet clear, in an Instagram post Hagner revealed that he was born two weeks after they had a photo-shoot for Vogue Magazine.

The Instagram post caption read, "VOGUE, BABY! And right after these photos we HAD A BABY, BABY! April issue of @voguemagazine in our van, Carnella, which we lived in for a big chunk of my pregnancy.2 weeks after these photos were taken we welcomed the heavenly Buddy Prine Russell into the world! It’s been nothing short of magic."

Congratulations are in order for the new parents! This is a beautiful time in any parent's life, and we are sure that the couple is enjoying their time together as a new family. 

Wyatt and Hagner met in 2016 on the set of the independent comedy film "Folk Hero And Funny Guy" and fell in love quite quickly, as per EOnline. Interestingly, his parents, Hawn and Kurt, also first met in 1968 while working together on the set of "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band," and started dating while filming "Swing Shift" in 1983.

Wyatt proposed to Hagner in Dec. 2018 in a beautiful and intimate setting in Aspen, Colorado, where Wyatt's parents own a home. About the proposal, Hagner said in another Instagram post, "the love of my dang life proposed to me. He is the best guy in the world. It was an epic surprise surrounded by our closest family and I would give the proposal 5 stars on yelp!!!!!" 

The couple tied the knot in 2019 at the same Aspen home their engagement took place. The whole family was present for the nuptials, including Hawn, Kurt, Kate and Oliver, as per EOnline.

Hagner and Wyatt told Vogue Magazine that they purchased "a Mercedes Sprinter van retrofitted with a Scandi-style blond-wood interior and equipped with all the trimmings—stovetop, dining banquette, modular seating, and sleeping areas—for #vanlife." They spent a lot of time in this van as they headed for month-long drives to places like Shasta National Forest or Glacier National Park, where they trek, spend time in the outdoors often and sleep under the stars. 

"It’s funny because it can look so romantic sometimes," Hagner told the magazine, "but more often than not you’re in a timed shower in a rest stop, laughing because you didn’t get enough quarters and the water stops while your hair’s still covered in soap." With their new addition now, they do not seem to want to stop their #vanlife yet. They will be constructing a larger van, and say that they plan to take baby Buddy with them.

"I mean, as soon as we can get our new van constructed, we’re going to be on the road with him," Hagner said. "That’ll be a whole new set of adventures."

Hagner and Wyatt seemed to live in their van through her pregnancy as well. An Instagram post from Dec. 14, 2020, shows a pregnant Hagner posing in their van home. The caption reads, "the heavenly second trimester, when the vomit stopped and i could still tie my shoes and we lived in our van 💕." The first pregnancy announcement came in November, however, and the happy news was also shared around the same time by Hagner's sister-in-law, Kate.

Kate's Instagram post read, "Celebrating our next family member today 👶 🍼 First for my bro Wy and @merediththeweasel We are over the moon and can’t wait!!!! 💫" The photograph was taken at Hagner's baby shower, and a photo from the same event was used for Hagner's announcement post which was captioned, "Cat (baby) is out of the bag! But still very much in the bag (placenta). What a wild gift to carry this sweet life. my soulmate/ husband and I are overjoyed. Thanks to my california nearest and dearests for this magical, heavily covid tested day💕💕"

Hawn was also present at the baby shower, and it looks as though the whole family remains close despite living such different lives. Wyatt told People in 2018 that every new addition to the family is an exciting time for everyone. At the time, Kate was set to welcome daughter, Rani Rose and Wyatt got emotional and "teary-eyed" when he first heard the news that Hudson was expecting a girl.

Speaking of spending time with his nieces and nephews, Wyatt also said, "We get to go on vacations and stuff in the summer and be able to see each other and hang out it's nice. ... I just try to spend as much quality time with them as I can."

In terms of how they've managed to create such a warm and loving family-oriented atmosphere, Kurt and Hawn have been able to do so since spending quality time together seems to be one of their priorities in life.

"We always trim the tree on Christmas Eve and we have a big meal,” Kurt told Closer Weekly. "The grandkids put their pajamas on and hang up their stockings. We get the fire going and when it gets dark we always choose someone to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.'"

It is also important for Hawn to celebrate big events with her grandchildren throughout the year, such as granddaughter Rio's preschool graduation and charity functions for the Goldie Hawn Foundation. Photos of such events on her social media show how close the family truly feels with one another. 

In Feb. 2020, Hawn and Kate posed for the cover of People Magazine along with Kate's daughter, Rani. “When your daughter has a daughter, it’s a big deal,” Hawn told People. “I mean, it really is.” Kate added, “And now with little Rani Rose, I was so excited. The third generation.” This was another opportunity for Hawn and her family to not only spend some time together but also to talk about how much family means to them.

During the cover shoot, the mom and daughter — and her daughter's daughter! — also took time to talk in a short video interview, in which they discussed the importance of family and how parents can really help to support their children by being there for them and lifting them up. Kate said during the shoot,

“My mom gave me the floor to be able to feel confident enough to go out and feel like my life could be my own,” Kate said. “Mom was my greatest cheerleader. And it just made me think about Rani…going, ‘I hope I give her that kind of confidence,’ you know?”
