In Manitou Springs, Colorado, a golden retriever named Sundance has been delivering food to a neighbor Renee Hellman, a 71-year-old woman with health problems. Karen Eveleth, Sundance's owner, decided to train her dog to help Renee during the coronavirus pandemic.

You Can Always Count on a Canine to Brighten Your Day, Even While Self-Isolating

Self-isolation doesn't necessarily mean you have to be all alone. Just ask this Manitou Springs, Colorado resident: Karen Eveleth from the Centennial State went to extra lengths to make sure her elderly neighbor, Renee Hellman didn't get too lonely during the recent mandatory isolation the state-imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hellman, who lives alone, found her day brightened when Karen and her seven-year-old golden retriever, Sundance, decided to make it their duty to make sure Hellman stayed connected and social during these difficult times.

The Best of Friends

After the state had issued warnings of the growing spread of the coronavirus, Hellman, who uses an oxygen tank, found herself forced to quarantine inside due to the growing possibility that individuals with underlying health issues are the most vulnerable. Being a good neighbor, Karen and Sundance decided to help Hellman out with her grocery shopping while she self-quarantined for protection

According to Karen, Hellman would provide Sundance with a grocery list that he would then bring the Karen for shopping guidance. Upon return from the store, Karen would give Sundance the groceries who would prance gleefully up to Hellman's front porch with the purchases in tow.

An Unintentional Hero

That's right, Sundance proved himself to be a good boy by answering the call of duty when the rest of the nation was otherwise on lockdown. Not only has Hellman appreciated the help during this time, but she also found enjoyment in a pup who was willing to go above and beyond to help a neighbor friend.

She said communicating with the canine was a joyful endeavor each time, and she began to look forward to his visits. Later on, he even began to bring the mail in, as well.
