Girl Isn't Aware Parents Adopted Baby Until Mom Walks In Holding Brand New Sister

It's always exciting when a baby comes into someone's life — and children are no exception. Often parents might ask whether a child wants a brother or a sister, and if the mother is pregnant, then there is an obvious physical sign that the baby is on its way. But for families who adopt, the day that the new baby brother or sister is welcomed into the home can come at any time, which makes for the ultimate surprise.

That's what happened to the Pruitt family. Back in 2017, the family consisted of parents Kasi and Shane and their children — Raygen, 11, and Harper, 6, who are both biological daughters, and two adopted sons Titus and Elliot. But the Pruitt family wanted another member, and after discussing with the girls, it was decided they wanted a baby sister.

However, since the family was adopting, it wasn't quite clear when their baby sister would arrive. But that didn't stop Raygen and Harper from being overjoyed and excited at the new addition to the family whenever she would eventually arrive.

Then, after a 10-month long wait, Kasi and Shane finally brought home their newborn baby on July 26, 2017. Luckily, the parents recorded the moment on video, which captures just how excited their other family members were to finally meet the newest addition to the Pruitt family. Since then, the video has gone viral, and it's easy to see why. There is so much love and joy showcased in the short clip, and it's incredibly heartwarming to watch.

When Raygen and Harper found out they would be getting a new adopted baby sibling to join their adoptive brothers Titus and Elliot, the two were overjoyed. After all, a new member of the family is a very exciting prospect. The day that their baby sister arrived at the home was captured on camera, and their reactions were completely unfiltered. As Kasi walked into the home cradling the newest member of the Pruitt family, Raygen sees her mom walk in and is heard exclaiming,

“Are you kidding me?”

Initially in shock, the girl then bursts into tears of joy as she finally gets to meet her baby sister. The 11-year-old's instant reaction was to cry tears of joy when she laid eyes on the infant for the very first time. Meanwhile, Harper is equally as happy, but her emotions are reflected through excitement rather than tears. Both girls crowd around their mother, and there is clearly a lot of love there at that moment. Shane can be heard off-camera asking Raygen if she wants to hold her new baby sister, and through her tears, she manages to nod, not even able to say anything.

The newborn had become the 7th member of the Pruitt family. According to ABC News, Raygen and Harper knew they would be getting a baby sister and were growing impatient over the long 10-month period.

“They would ask all the time, ‘Have you gotten a call? When is our brother or sister coming home?’” their father, Shane, told ABC.

“And they definitely wanted a sister.”

On that day in July 2017, Shane and Kasi got a call from their adoption agency that a newborn girl was ready for them to take home to join their family the next morning. The parents decided against telling their children, in case things ended up not going as planned. They left to pick up the baby girl early in the morning and returned a couple of hours later to surprise their children.

This made for the perfect moment to capture on video. Shane was the one to film the loving interaction, and the video has since gone viral on Twitter with over 1.4 million views at the time of writing.

“Their two reactions are very fitting for their personalities,” Shane told ABC News. “Harper, we say she’s very spicy [and] Raygen loves to take care of others.”

The video of the interaction was meant to be their birth announcement, but it quickly went viral as the whole world fell in love with the girls’ reaction.

“Out of all of those views probably 200 are of our daughters watching it,” Shane joked.

“If it shines a lot on adoption and encourages other families to step up and be foster parents or adopt, then that’s the ultimate win.”

As for the Pruitt family, especially the three daughters, they now have this video to remember this special moment for the rest of their lives. It's clear that there is a lot of love in the family, and there's no doubt the family's three daughters and two sons are all incredibly close.
