Quick thinking often saves people from harm. In violent situations, however, quick thinking and taking action become difficult. The dangerous risk of escalating an already terrible situation looms. But for someone who has watched many detective and crime series before, knowledge of what to do in suspicious situations could be a matter of life and death.

A brave 11-year-old girl from Oakland Park, Florida, has shown incredible self-defense skills as she successfully fended off her would-be kidnapper with the awesome skills that she got from watching “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

Alyssa Bonal, who was playing with her homemade slime while waiting for her bus to school in May 2021, was suddenly approached by a man in a white vehicle.

Her mother, Amber, spoke to Pensacola News Journal, detailing the horrific encounter her daughter had to face at the time.

"Her first words were, 'Somebody tried to kidnap me. He grabbed me by my throat and he had a knife.' She said she was able to kick and she tripped him and freed herself,” Amber revealed.

But unlike other children who might face the same kind of frightening situation, Alyssa thought of a different thing. Her mom told the news outlet:

"She said, 'Mom, I had to leave some sort of evidence behind, like on Law & Order SVU.' We've watched probably every episode on Hulu. She's a smart cookie, she thinks on her toes. She got that slime everywhere,” she continued.

Apparently, Alyssa smeared her kidnapper with the blue slime she was playing with and ran off as fast as she could to flee the kidnapper. Running back home, Amber was stunned to see her daughter, who she didn’t think would have experienced such an unspeakable act at such a young age.

Thanks to Alyssa’s quick thinking skills of smearing her kidnapper with blue slime, the Escambia County Police had quite an easy time locating the suspect. Shortly after that day, the 30-year-old kidnapper was arrested.

Per Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, the white vehicle and the license plate that appeared on the surveillance video of the kidnapping attempt matched the automobile in the suspect’s home.

Upon the authorities’ arrival at the suspect’s home, Simmons confirmed that he still had blue dye on his arms. Eventually, he was taken into custody and was charged with attempted kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery, Pensacola News Journal reported.

Describing the incident as a “crazy story, with an even crazier twist,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”  star Mariska Hargitay responded to the amazing bravery that Alyssa had displayed during the frightening encounter.

“Alyssa, first and most important, I am so relieved and grateful to know that you are safe. And I am so honored to be part of your incredible story. You are one BRAVE, Strong and Smart young woman. I think the SVU squad might have to add slime to their crimefighting gear! Take good care of yourself and each other. With all my love, your number one fan, Mariska,” she said in a post.

Still traumatized from the encounter, the emotional mother is almost at a loss for words as she began to wrap her head around the idea that her child could be taken away from her:

"If she would have been taken … If she would have been taken, I could have lost her forever,” she said on the verge of tears.
