Girl, 11, ‘Blew The Roof Off’ ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ In Moving Golden Buzzer Moment With Amanda Holden

“Britain’s Got Talent” has opened everybody’s hearts to countless heartwarming stories and hair-raising performances throughout its 16 seasons. With many people across Great Britain, sometimes extending to the whole world, it is fulfilling to witness dreams come true as well as lives get transformed when their performance receives approval from the judges or when a Golden Buzzer moment happens. 

Talent comes in all shapes and sizes, in all ages, and all races – what sets others apart is how confident they are in pursuing theirs. As for 11-year-old Olivia Lynes, her mother Melissa, was instrumental in making her dreams come true. According to Mirror UK, Melissa sent videos of Olivia singing to Amanda Holden. In a grand surprise, Holden, who was captivated by Olivia’s voice wanted to break the announcement and invitation onto the show to her personally. 

When little Olivia was buying tickets to see “Matilda the Musical” at the Cambridge Theatre, Holden surprised her as she came bearing gifts. Olivia was excited to see the show and nervous as she was backstage.

As soon as Holden walked inside the reception booth, Olivia’s jaw dropped, in awe of what was happening. 

“I wanted to ask you whether you might like to come down to Britain’s Got Talent and meet the other judges and come and sing for us as an audition?” Holden asked, to which Olivia said yes, in tears. 

When she eventually faced Holden, Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell during the actual auditions, Olivia was a bit nervous but ready to blow everyone away with her rendition of “Defying Gravity” from “Wicked.” 

In a few lines from the popular hair-raising song, Olivia had everyone clapping for her as she captivated them with her sweet singing voice. As the tempo accelerated, Olivia proved that she was indeed amazing, singing a song flawlessly as if she had the experience of a middle-aged woman. 

Her vocal prowess and impressive singing abilities sent chills to everyone up in their seats and landed her the standing ovation she deserved. Tonioli and Holden were overwhelmed with emotions after her exhilarating performance. At the height of the applause and ovation, Holden pressed the Golden Buzzer, which surprised Olivia and her family, sending them crying with joy. 

"You were my golden moment, you were the golden moment. You were absolutely amazing, you nailed that,” Holden commented as they hugged. 

The judges were in unison with their comments, with nothing but praise from the four of them. 

“Honey, you send me literally flying, everything you said touched me. You’re a singing miracle, my darling!” Tonioli tearily shared. 

“That was like a scene from a movie. You just blew the roof off. I mean, seriously, perfect, perfect, perfect Golden buzzer. You so deserved it. Brilliant, Brilliant!” Cowell said. 

Speaking to The Daily Mail about Olivia, Holden revealed that she pressed the Golden Buzzer even if she did not know she could. 

"But when I met her I had no idea if she could sing, and then was absolutely blown away by her performance," she revealed to the outlet about Olivia. "And it's just so typical of what I would press my buzzer for. I was almost like: 'Oh my god. It's going to have to be this because I love it. She is amazing.'"
