Ginger From "Gilligan's Island" Made A Rare Public Appearance, And The 88-Year-Old Looked Gorgeous

Even after all these decades, most people are familiar with the theme song from "Gilligan's Island," and the vintage TV show can still be seen on some stations. The reruns of the show remained one of the most popular programs for decades after it ended in 1967, so parents could have fun watching a show that they loved with their kids.

People who had red hair had an icon to look up to in the movie star character, Ginger, who was modeled after Marilyn Monroe. Red-haired beauties have never been as common as blondes or brunettes.

Tina Louise, the actress who played Ginger, possessed a beauty that rivaled Marilyn Monroe, and many men would say they wished they could be stranded on the island with her. Despite the harsh conditions of the remote island, Ginger could always convey a sense of glamour and mystique.

After the show ended, Tina Louise rarely made appearances in public, even at the reunions of the television program. People could only wonder if their childhood crush had retained her beauty after the years passed.

Recently, Tina made a public appearance at the age of 85, and she still looked great. She was wearing a snug purple dress, and she still sported her iconic red hair in a modern fashion. Fans still recognize her, and she is thrilled to have many adoring fans who appreciated the work she did. Tina still gets fan letters at her home, and she gets approached in public by fans occasionally.

She was not very interested in attending reunions of cast members of the show, and this could be due to the somewhat distant relationship between her and Dawn Wells, the actress who played the character, Mary Ann.

Tina says that Dawn was more of a people-pleaser while she was somewhat averse to that trait. She also notes that she and Dawn come from different backgrounds. Even though both actresses perform in stage productions, they don't work together or attend each other's performances. Although Ginger and the other cast members are not close, they will be remembered forever as icons of a golden age of television sitcoms.
