Giant Orchestra Chills Audience With Mesmerizing Rendition Of 'Unchained Melody'

Music and film lovers everywhere can agree that melodious songs and iconic films bring people together. One such song is Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. When hearing the first piece of the song, the film Ghost immediately comes to mind. We picture actors Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze casually sitting together and making pottery while this beautiful melody is playing in the background of the scene.

This evocative song resurfaced again in 2002 when an orchestra at the Musikschau der Nationen (Music Show of The Nations) in Bremen, Germany performed a spectacular and grand rendition.

The combined rendition created a powerful performance. Not only was the song replicated perfectly, but each member was tasked with a different portion of the song. Each individual contributed equally to successfully performing Unchained Melody.

While each member was equally important, some of the orchestral members who played more prominent instruments of the song were given spotlights. This rendition is especially powerful because of the uniformity among the orchestral members. The performers were in tune with one another and never missed a beat, creating an iconic performance.

The song begins with the trumpet players and then proceeds to the other instruments. Each member is wearing his own regalia, making the performance look extremely professional. After the trumpets and a few other instruments, the tubes begin playing their own sense of gravitas. Getting into specifics, these instruments are not really tubes, but rather sousaphones.

Sousaphones are a type of tuba made for performing while standing or marching. In short, they are more portable than common tubes. Sousaphones curl around the player's body, yet sound the same as a normal tuba.

We soon hear the drummers pitch in with their music. They hit each note precisely and clearly leading up to the clarinet players. The clarinets do not really get their own spotlight because, during this time, the camera has panned out to show the entire orchestra. We become truly awestruck at seeing the massive size of this combined orchestra and one can only wonder how they managed to get everyone in synchrony and never missing a note.

The tone of the clarinet is soothing and soft, leading up to the sheer glory of hearing the French horns. The French horns sound majestic in a way, which only adds to the regal effect given off by the expressions and postures of the band members. The Righteous Brothers would have loved hearing this perfect rendition of their hit song. If the precise notes were not enough to impress, the uniformity among these different orchestral groups definitely is.
