Homecomings Are The Best! Military homecomings are a special video niche, aren't they? They're full of happiness, relief, and the abounding joy of children and pets. They bring tears to the eyes of many viewers. Sometimes they serve as a pick-me-up on a bad day. They remind us that there are good things in our lives.
This homecoming video from 2013, in which a staff sergeant surprises his dog Harley, was even featured on Good Morning America Live.

Pets greeting their military owners at homecoming are a sub-niche of this niche. What have the pets been thinking? Did they think that their family member was lost? In this video, the serviceman comes home again. His German Shepherd doesn't hold back his enthusiasm! The funny thing is that it took him a moment to even realize that his owner was in the room.

The Man
The soldier is a staff sergeant. We thank him for his service! He finally had the chance to come home! It's not clear from the video if he was visiting or home for good, but his German Shepherd didn't care.
The Dog
Harley is the young dog in the video. When he comes into the room, he greets the other family members. He's completely focused on them. This is a trait Shepherds often display as they serve their family or pack. They have to tell him to turn around! When he spots the serviceman, he immediately recognizes him. He shows how he feels about it! Harley races around his friend and asks for pets and cuddles.
He gets himself so worked up that his owner has to tell him to settle down. Harley has trouble with that. He's a young dog, and he's feeling pretty good at the moment. He starts to play harder because that's what dogs do. He finally manages to calm down and come in close for some gentle hugs.
