German Shepherd Realizes Owner Isn’t Behind Him Anymore And His Adorable Reaction Gains Internet Fame

Most pet owners are obsessed with their furry friends. However, this admiration often goes both ways. Dogs can become incredibly attached to their owners. This makes a lot of sense given the reliance that the dog has on its human. You are not only their source of food and shelter but also of love and companionship. Dogs are naturally pack animals, meaning they are extremely sociable. Left by themselves, they can easily start to feel lonely or scared.

This clip from 2017 shows how one German Shepherd's walk turned to panic after he thought he'd lost his owner. Thankfully his owner was simply playing a prank on him, but the reaction is real!

This video shows just how deep that attachment can go. The man was out walking his German Shepherd Dog one day and decided to play a small prank on the poor pup. As they walked along the sidewalk, the GSD is walking happily in front of him.

Then, he waits. A few seconds pass as the dog continues, unaware of the impending game of hide-and-seek. Then, as the dog turns to make his routine check, he realizes his owner is gone.

The reaction is equal parts funny and sad. The beautiful dog looks like his entire world is breaking down around him. He whimpers and looks around frantically trying to find his dad. For such a powerful dog, the entire display is admittedly pitiful. He looks like a toddler who can't find his mom in the grocery store. The panic is palpable.

The dog slowly starts walking backward, retracing his steps while maintaining a fully dejected look. You can't help but feel bad for the scared dog as he looks everywhere for his lost owner. Thankfully, his owner hadn't gone far. Sniffing around, the faithful shepherd finds his human hiding behind a tree.

Instantly, the dog realizes that he doesn't need to worry. Rather, it's time to play. The dog is overjoyed and starts bouncing with happiness. His tail wags furiously and his ears are held aloft in happy celebration.

Comments on the video are a mixture of laughter and sadness. One commenter noted, "This makes me feel sad knowing that this has actually happened to some dogs but [is] not a prank."
