The former service dog of President George H.W. Bush was part of a Memorial Day tribute on Instagram to the fallen leader. The famous dog, Sully, posed for a picture outside of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. in front of the commemoration to Bush.

The yellow labrador retriever gained fame after he became the late president's aid in the waning months of his life. The non-profit organization America’s VetDog was responsible for training Sully and getting him ready to serve the president in a variety of capacities reported Time.

Sully was a faithful servant at Bush's side until his death on November 30, 2018. A photo of the sweet dog laying next to Bush's casket quickly went viral, as it brought to life the special relationship that the two shared.

His transfer to this facility was approved by the elder Bush's son, former President George W. Bush. The younger Bush told NBC that the goodbye was bittersweet but that the entire family is happy that Sully will be bringing joy to so many other people in his new job.
