George Clooney, born in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1961, is one of the most successful actors of his generation. He has starred in a range of critically acclaimed films, including “Ocean's Eleven,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Ticket To Paradise.” George has also been involved in activism and humanitarian work.
Amal Clooney, born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1978, is a human rights lawyer who has represented high-profile clients like Julian Assange and the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko. Amal has also worked as a senior advisor to Kofi Annan when he was the UN's special envoy to Syria and has been involved in numerous human rights campaigns.
George and Amal Clooney are one of Hollywood's most high-profile couples. The two have been married since 2014 and have been going strong ever since. Their relationship is interesting, as they come from vastly different backgrounds, but their shared passion for justice and activism has brought them together.
Time and again, the couple has gone out of their way to give back to others and inspire people to do their part to help others too. The pair live a busy life as they are very successful in their respective industries. Swapping a glamorous lifestyle for family time, they became parents in June 2017 to twins named Alexander and Ella.
George loves his life with his wife and kids. He told CBS Mornings:
“I'm not mad at anything. I got a brilliant, beautiful wife, I got two knuckleheads for kids, life's great.”
George took a significant step in 2023 when he listed his Lake Como estate he has become synonymous with on the market. Keep reading for the details.

George and Amal’s meeting was love at first sight for the actor. On “The Drew Barrymore Show” in October 2022, he recounted how, before he met her, his agent, Brian Lourd, who had met Amal shortly before then, called to tell him he had met the woman George was going to marry, but the actor called him an “idiot.”
However, when Amal stepped into George’s home, the actor was immediately smitten with her, and they talked all night. George proposed to Amal six months later. To his dismay, the proposal didn’t turn out how he expected.
“I planned the whole thing out,” he shared. “I've got like, I've got a playlist with my Aunt Rosemary (Clooney) singing. And I'm gonna get down, and I'm gonna give her the ring right at the song, 'Why Shouldn't I?'” he continued.
He put the ring in a drawer behind Amal, and when he asked her to get a lighter from the drawer, she drew out the ring, but her response was unexpected. George recalled that she said:
“‘There's a ring in there’ like somebody left a ring there years ago, you know?”
“And I'm like, on my knee, like (mumbling), and so now the song is playing, and I go, ‘No you know, I want you to be my wife,’” he shared. “And I'm on my knee, I do this stuff and she's just sitting there like going ‘oh my God, oh my God,’ and I literally said, ‘Listen, I really would like to marry you, but I also am not young and I've been on my knee now. And I could like lose a hip, you know?’ And then she goes, ‘Oh, yes.’”

George and Amal have many international homes, including in London and Manhattan. Notable among their properties, though, is their Lake Como estate in Italy, named Villa Oleandra, where they met for the first time.
The Como estate is also where the power couple primarily raise their twins. George joked about how his children had become fluent Italian speakers and how he and Amal had mistakenly armed them with a language they didn’t understand.
George purchased the estate from the Heinz family in 2002 for $10 million and has hosted friends and significant personalities there. Former US President Barack Obama, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Jennifer Aniston and Matt Damon have all stayed at the massive property.
The Como estate is a sprawling property with 25 rooms, an outdoor pool, a tennis court, a theatre, a gym and a huge garage. However, George is ready to part with his beloved home and has put the property up for sale. According to Page Six, he listed it privately for $107 million. The actor has been trying to sell the property since as far back as 2010 due to the enormous attention he draws just by being there.
Fans and paparazzi have previously trespassed onto the property, leaving the authorities to weigh in on the matter and issue restricting orders. Anyone caught trespassing within 100 meters (approximately 109 yards) of the property must pay a $600 fine. A source said of George, described as “the mayor of the lake”:
“George loves the area and the people who live there, but is conscious of the attention he gets when he is in town. He has received a huge offer for the villa, which he is considering, and he would buy another, less accessible property in another area of Italy.”
