George And Amal Clooney Have Eyes On $9 Million Sprawling Countryside Estate In The South Of France Which Boasts Its Own Vineyard, Olive Grove And Tennis Court

George Clooney is one of Hollywood's biggest heartthrobs. But ever since he married lawyer Amal Clooney in 2014, showbiz's most eligible bachelor has firmly been off the market. Swapping a glamorous lifestyle for family-time — the couple became parents in June 2017 to a set of twins named Alexander and Ella — George has shown that as he enters his sixth decade of life, he's much happier taking things a bit slower now.

So slow, in fact, that he and Amal are believed to have just bought a $9 million estate in the south of France. The 425-acre property is known as Domaine de Canadel and is situated in Brignoles in the Var. It boasts a swimming pool and tennis court, as well as a 25-acre vineyard. The main house of the historic location was built in the 18th century and is believed to be spread over three stories. In 1990, architect Bruno Lafourcade remodeled the home. If there's anywhere the actor could take life slowly, we imagine a beautiful house in the south of France, surrounded by vineyards, is a pretty good place to do that!

What's more, one of George's best buddies, actor Brad Pitt, has a home just a stone's throw away. Chateau Miraval, which Pitt owns with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, is located in nearby Correns. What could be better than indulging in bucolic family life in the south of France with one of your best friends living nearby? Honestly, not much else! Let's take a look at the Clooneys' new abode.

Images of the property reveal it is exactly what one might think of when they imagine a gorgeous French chateau — scenic vines are growing on the building, while quintessential blue shutters cover the large windows of the terracotta-colored facade. The abode offers plenty of space, with lots of parking available in the large driveway, while perfectly landscaped gardens, including a private olive grove, surround it. A small house for the caretaker is also on the premises. Aerial photographs show the house is situated among many trees that would offer extra privacy.

Inside, the house is just as stunning as it is on the outside, appearing very comfortable with many spacious rooms for relaxing. These include a large sitting area decorated with multiple sofas and a built-in bookcase, a large kitchen and multiple bedrooms. The chateau offers plenty of room for entertaining if George and Amal wish to do so as well, with lots of outside seating situated on the property.

While the couple hasn't confirmed the purchase of Domaine de Canadel just yet, the mayor of Brignoles, Didier Brémond, seems to have confirmed their arrival to the town, telling France Bleu:

"George Clooney came above all to seek tranquility and not necessarily a large wine estate. He bought this property to come and rest."

It is believed that the Clooneys have bought the estate from an Australian couple, however, there have been conflicting reports that the estate has been sold for €6 million ($7 million) to a local investor instead, but no contracts have been signed, as reported by Var Martin

The news comes just as George celebrated his 60th birthday on May 6. But despite living a charmed life, the actor doesn't appear completely satisfied with his new age. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, he was asked about entering his sixth decade, to which he replied:

"As far as turning 60, listen, I'm not thrilled with it, but it's better than dead. So I'll take it. I got two options."

In the same interview, he spoke about his and Amal's 3-year-old twins and how they're teaching them to be charitable. He said:

"Well, you try (to instill charitable values). They're not quite four yet so they don't [understand]. My kids will always say, they'll pick up a toy and they'll go, 'This is for the poor people.' And I go, 'Good. OK, so let's put it in the basket and we'll take it to the poor people.' And then there's this shock on their face when reality hits."

He continued on:

"But I hope so. My parents always taught me that the best things you could do [is] challenge people in power and look out for people who aren't in power and those kinds of things."

George might be one of Hollywood's hottest leading men, but his generosity has been documented for some time. Apparently one of the nicest guys in show business, in 2020 he recounted the full backstory of a gesture he did that was revealed a few years ago, in which he gifted 14 of his closest friends $1 million each. Not only is he gorgeous, talented and so many other things, but he's an incredible friend who knows how to give back to those he cares for.
