In the world we live in today, kindness can often be overlooked or even hard to find. Many people do the bare minimum in order to consider themselves kind people but they really aren’t going much out of their way to do it. Putting others ahead of yourself isn’t always the easiest thing to do. It can be hard and yes, you might have to go out of your way to do it.

However, a group of volunteers in Minneapolis, Minnesota took kindness to heart. Sarah Edwards founded a group called, “I AM Kindness.” This group performs random acts of kindness wherever they possibly can. They use their skills and talents to do what they can to bring happiness to those around them.

In 2013, a group went to the Mount Olivet Senior Care Center to surprise some of the residents. They went to pamper them for a day.

Many times, our elders are placed in retirement homes and forgotten or overlooked. Many have families who don’t visit or they don’t have any family to visit them at all. They deserved a day where they were treated like royalty.

You can just see the joy on their faces when they are surprised by this day. The volunteers just had to take a day out of their lives in order to create this much joy in others.

We are all busy people. We all have jobs, spouses, kids, and our own hobbies we enjoy taking the time to do. It is easy to not stop and think about others out there in the world. But if we take just one day out of our lives every now and again, we could completely transform someone else’s.
