Garbage Man Stops During Dangerous Wildfire, Pulls 93-Year-Old Into Truck To Save Her From Flames

An elderly woman who is only 93 years old went to her front porch and stood there in the midst of the wildfires in California to try to get someone to stop to save her. A few moments later, her garbageman came down the road. Instead of picking up trash that day, he saved the woman's life.

Margaret Newsum got up in the morning and tried to start her day like she always does, not thinking that it would end up being a day that was completely different for her and her home.

Margaret fixed her breakfast of oatmeal and watched the morning news. The Paradise fire was all over the news that morning as it had been for several days before that.

A caregiver staying with Margaret had left already, so the elderly woman was there alone.

She only had her two cats in her home by her side and a few others outside the home.

Margaret didn't know what to expect from the fire, so she walked out onto her porch to try to find someone to help her. That's when she saw the garbage truck coming up the road.

When the man saw that the woman was on her porch, he told her that she needed to leave and that he was going to get her to safety. The man had to be careful with Margaret because she had a broken back, but he was careful and had the help of the other man in the truck.
