They join a long list of unusual and extraordinary plants making homes and the wild just a little more interesting to look at. Let’s explore a few before we get to the star of the show: the galaxy flower.
The Baseball Plant
You’ve seen clouds that look just like some other object? Well, one look at this plant is all it takes to understand it’s name. The glove-like formation is remarkable. It’s found mainly in South Africa. While they thrive best in the wild and gardens, some people keep them as houseplants, too.

Amorphophallus Konjac
This Asian plant species is often referred to as the corpse plant because of its pungent odor that resembles rotting flesh. Why so stinky? It’s actually an intentional perfume the plant uses to attract flys during pollination, reports the RHS. Others call this plant the devil’s tongue because of its single massive tongue-like leaf growing from its corm. As if all that’s not weird enough, this plant grows to heights exceeding that of a grown man.
Dragon Blood Tree
This stunning tree is native to Yemen and resembles something out of Alice’s Wonderland. It’s umbrella-shaped crown is a visual masterpiece that confuses the senses as it looks like it is both up and down. But, that’s not where the tree’s name derives. Are you ready for this? It’s sap is blood red. Who says trees don’t bleed?
Little Leaf Sensitive Briar
While the looks of this US wildflower resembles a dandelion that’s been infused with pink neon paint, this unusual beauty isn’t letting anything fly off to the wind. Blow on it or touch it to watch it get startled. The sensitive plant closes up to protect itself when it feels threatened. There will be no wishes being granted by this smart plant.

Venus who? This colorful plant’s trap is much more efficient than the carnivorous Venus flytrap plant. It just lounges around while it’s leaves do all the work. According to The Daily Plant, those bright sticky leaves automatically capture anything that dare land on the plant.

Of all the unusual and beautiful plants above, the galaxy flower is the real star of the show. It’s a Night Sky Petunia that will light up your garden or hanging baskets. They grow all over the world in spring and summer, and seeds are typically very easy to find, reports House Beautiful. The base of the flower’s petals are a deep majestic purple. This is speckled with vibrant white splotches that look like distant stars.
To onlookers, the coloring creates an illusion of deep space. Each flower will look a little different in its pattern since the coloring is related to the temperature and amount of sunlight it receives. More sunlight equals more white speckles. If you want a real show-stopper to add to your flower collection, this is the one.
