The sitcom "Full House" was a huge success in the late '80s and early '90s, and it propelled many of its stars to fame. Among them was John Stamos as the hunky Uncle Jesse, who was a surefire drawcard for women everywhere. Other notable actors included Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, young girls at the time, who played the singular role of Michelle Tanner, while Stamos' close friend Bob Saget also became very well known.

The show would run for eight years, airing from 1987 to 1995, but to the delight of fans, it wouldn't be the last the world would see of "Full House" when two decades later, in 2015, Netflix announced that they would be reviving the show. The reboot adapted the name slightly to "Fuller House" and was released in 2016.

Despite the fact that the Olsen twins wouldn't be reprising their role as Michelle Tanner, the rest of the cast were all returning as regular characters or as guest roles. "Fuller House" would go on to air five seasons to mixed reviews, but fans of the original were no doubt happy to have the gang back together again.

Another one of the stars from the show who shot to fame during the series' original run is actress Candace Cameron Bure, better known to fans as D.J. Tanner. In detail, Cameron Bure is no longer the child star many recall. Now a mother of three, she has made her views on faith and family central to her identity. In January 2024, her beliefs were highlighted in a personal way, through her eldest son’s wedding, which she described as a blessing rooted in Christ-centered values.

Cameron Bure has been a staple in the Hallmark Channel's holiday fare since 2008, with hits such as "Christmas Under Wraps," "A Christmas Detour," "Switched for Christmas," and "Let It Snow." But the actress, dubbed the "Queen of Christmas," shocked fans when she announced she would be leaving the channel and moving to a new network called the Great American Family. She explained the move to the Wall Street Journal as a personal choice to align her values better with the people she worked with.

Cameron Bure told WSJ, according to Fox News:

"My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them."

As the Great American Family's chief creative officer, Bure said she “knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.” While nobody can fault her for wanting to make a career move she feels is best for her, it was her response to whether the channel will feature any LGBTQ storylines or characters that have incited backlash.  She stated:

"I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core."

Fans were quick to air their views online on what Cameron Bure constituted as a "traditional marriage," with many criticizing her for what they described as being close-minded. However, many fans have also come to her defense as well, saying she is free to believe what she wants.

Corey Stewart commented:

“What ‘traditional marriage’? Selling young girls into marriage for property. That was tradition at one point. What about having to give property to the church for a marriage license? That was tradition as well. What about plural marriage for some? Or is it only her definition?”

However, the chief executive of Great American Media, Bill Abbott, was less black and white about their plans, saying:

"It's certainly the year 2022, so we're aware of the trends. There's no whiteboard that says, 'Yes, this' or 'No, we'll never go here.'"

Cameron Bure’s personal beliefs about marriage were reflected powerfully when she celebrated her son Lev Valerievich Bure’s wedding in January 2024. On Instagram, she described the day not only as a family milestone but also as a continuation of values passed down through generations.

The actress posted a family photo of her, the newlyweds, her husband Valeri Bure, their daughter Natasha Valerievna Bure, and their youngest Maksim Valerievich Bure. She wore a textured gold gown, definitely standing out as the mother of the groom. She wrote in the caption:

“Words cannot express the joy we have felt this weekend celebrating the marriage of our son and his bride Elliott. We gained a beautiful daughter and a wonderful family to do life with. I have an overwhelming sense of love, joy, peace and contentment thanks to God’s blessing of family and friendship. My heart is so full.”

Cameron Bure also shared that she’s “grateful” for the “generational blessing of long lasting Christ-centered marriages” that was passed down from her great-grandparents to her eldest son. She continued:

“If this isn’t a blessing, I don’t know what is 🥺♥️🙌🏼. What a celebration it was!! The Holy Spirit was present, the gospel was preached and love filled the air. Covenant vows were made and hearts watching were reminded of theirs long ago ♥️♥️.”
