Fans of the hit American sitcom "Friends" had something to be excited about again after the show's departure over 17 years ago in 2004. On May 27, HBO Max premiered "Friends: The Reunion: The One Where They Get Back Together," an unscripted special that saw the main cast reunite on set to reminisce about the show together, test their knowledge of the show with a trivia game, sit down in an interview with James Corden and re-read their lines more than a decade after the show's finale.

As one of the most popular television shows of all time, "Friends" won countless awards, accolades and fans over the show's 10-year run from 1994 to 2004. Given the show's incredible success and long-lasting legacy, the reunion, which was originally set to air in 2020, came as a pleasant surprise for fans of the show. After all, this was the first time most "Friends" fanatics were able to see this group of six together in more than a decade.

The reunion special was an opportunity for the cast members to relive many iconic moments from the show and enjoy each other's company, and following the major success of the reunion show, cast members also revealed a lot of information that fans had previously not known. One little tidbit that got fans really excited was the fact that Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer both had a crush on each other while working together.

Fans will remember that Aniston and Schwimmer's characters Rachel and Ross had an iconic on-again-off-again relationship through the show's 10 seasons, and rumors are now swirling that the couple may now be dating in real life!

Not only is "Friends" the highest-rated television show of all time, but it also aired one of the most-watched television episodes in history: the series finale, which attracted 52.5 million viewers. To say the least, that means that the NBC show has its fair share of fans. And at the end of May, those fans were pleased with a reunion special.

About the reunion, Courtney Cox, who portrayed Monical Gellar on the show, told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview ahead of the show’s premiere, "I was flooded with 10 years of irreplaceable memories." It was certainly a very emotional thing for the cast as well as the fans, as it had been 17 years since the show had ended and this was the first time that the cast returned to the sets after the finale.

During the reunion, Aniston and Schwimmer opened up about the fact that they had a crush on each other during the first season of the show. "The first season I had a major crush on Jen," Schwimmer revealed according to Entertainment Weekly, and Aniston added, "It was reciprocated."

Schwimmer went on to add, "At some point we were both crushing hard on each other, but it was like two ships passing because one of us was always in a relationship and we never crossed that boundary. We respected that."

Aniston recalled that the two of them also talked about their first kiss, which would be on-screen. "I just remember saying one time to David, 'It's going to be such a bummer if the first time you and I actually kiss is going to be on national television.'"

Aniston continued, "Sure enough, first time we kissed was in that coffee shop. So, we just channeled all of our love and adoration for each other into Ross and Rachel."

Aniston and Schwimmer's crush on each other continued throughout their time on "Friends," and according to Entertainment Weekly, Matt LeBlanc, who played Joey Tribbiani said that everyone on the set already knew about the crush. Cox added that it was prudent that it did not turn into anything serious in real life as it would complicate everything if the couple ended up breaking up while filming.

However, more than 20 years after maintaining a good friendship, a source close to the couple told Closer Online,

"After the reunion, it became clear that reminiscing over the past had stirred up feelings for both of them and that chemistry they’d always had to bury was still there. They began texting immediately after filming and, just last month, David flew from his home in New York to see Jen in LA."

The source continued that the couple has "been spending time at Jen’s home, where she’s cooked dinners in the evenings, and have enjoyed quality time together, chatting and laughing."

The unnamed source also revealed, "They were also spotted drinking wine, deep in conversation, as they walked around one of Jen’s favourite vineyards in Santa Barbara, where it was clear there was lots of chemistry between them."

While only time will tell if the couple will confirm these rumors, if the news proves to be true, it will certainly be an exciting development for all "Friends" fans!
