On Oct. 7, 2025, Freida Parton, the younger sister of beloved country music legend Dolly Parton, spoke out to clarify her earlier comments about her sister’s health. The singer, songwriter, and philanthropist, best known for timeless hits like “Jolene,” as well as her work in film and her Dollywood theme park, has long been admired for her positive spirit and generosity.
Freida initially raised concerns among fans after posting a heartfelt message on social media.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” she wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask everyone who loves her to join me as prayer warriors.”
The post quickly spread, prompting an outpouring of love and support for the country icon, who has inspired millions through her six-decade career.
In her message, Freida emphasized her faith and her belief in Dolly’s strength, concluding with a touching note: “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you.”
Freida later explained that her comments were not meant to alarm fans but to express gratitude and faith. She assured everyone that Dolly was resilient and surrounded by love and support as she continued to focus on her well-being.

Freida, 68, later took to social media to clarify her earlier message that had sent alarm bells ringing about her sister.
“I want to clear something up,” she said, continuing, “I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly.”
Freida explained that her post came from a place of concern and faith, not alarm. She went on to clarify that Dolly had “been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.”
Freida also thanked Dolly’s fans for “lifting her up,” adding that their love “truly makes a difference.”
Dolly, 79, had postponed her Las Vegas residency due to an unspecified illness. The Nashville icon announced that the performances would be delayed by nearly a year to allow her time to focus on her health.
Dolly wrote in an Instagram post:
“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
“In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see,” she continued. “You see good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
