Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. are a match made in teen drama heaven. Both found fame as stars of classic teen movies of the late '90s and early noughties and went on to find love.

Gellar got her career rolling by starring in the daytime soap opera "All My Children," for which she won an Emmy due to her role as Kendall Hart. This led to her starring role in the television adaptation of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer."

In between starring in the TV show, she also took on roles in iconic teen slasher films, such as "Scream 2" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer." She also starred in other well-received films, such as "Cruel Intentions" and a cameo in "She’s All That," cementing her status as the era's “it girl.”

Prinze found himself becoming a teen heartthrob around the same time, too, with his starring roles in the same movies Gellar appeared in. He also appeared in "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer," as well as with Jessica Biel in "Summer Catch."

Gellar and Prinze famously started dating in 2000, three years after they filmed "I Know What You Did Last Summer.” A year after, the two were reportedly engaged and merrily tied the knot in 2002 in Mexico at a wedding officiated by Adam Shankman, the director of “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.”

The two have shared triumphs and successes throughout the years. But like any other married couple, they have their pet peeves and hissy fits with each other – and for Prinze, it’s Gellar blurting out unsolicited movie spoilers, which led to the two not watching movies together. Read on to learn more about the couple’s funny moments together.

Gellar and Prinze initially met on the set of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and quickly became friends. The actor told Entertainment Tonight their burgeoning friendship flourished on car rides together.

"She didn't have a driver's license so I was her chauffeur, and I would drive her to the gym every day and then go to the store, go get myself some lunch, and then drive her back and we would just have an hour drive," he told the outlet.

Eventually, their prized friendship blossomed into something deeper. In 2021, Gellar recalled their first date to People Magazine

"We've had many dinners before. We were supposed to go with someone else, and the third person didn't make it out, so we decided to still go. We were just two people at dinner catching up. We had a long car ride and a long dinner, and things just happened."

The two eventually worked together on the “Scooby Doo” franchise, where Prinze was cast as the dashing Fred Jones while Gellar famously played Daphne Blake. They also played the same characters in the film’s sequel in “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed” in 2004.

Prinze knew Gellar was the one from “the first time” they kissed, and they did indeed get married in September 2002 in Mexico.

And while both stars are still working in the entertainment industry, they are also working together as parents to their two children: their 13-year-old daughter, Charlotte, and their 10-year-old son, Rocky.

After laying low in Hollywood for quite a while, Gellar is back in the game again with the new supernatural series, “Wolf Pack.” To promote her new series, she was invited on “The Graham Norton Show,” and confessed a rather embarrassing moment she had with her husband.

Spoiling movies have been a frowned-upon deed by many throughout the years. Even actors and celebrities, who have spent time behind the cameras learning the conclusion of every film or series they take part in do not appreciate it.

While Gellar and Prinze have enjoyed sharing the spotlight together while acting, Prinze seemed to not enjoy watching movies together with his wife. In a January 2023 episode of “The Graham Norton Show,” Gellar was present along with famed director M. Knight Shyamalan, Rob Beckett and Claire Foy.

As Shyamalan was sharing how he hates movie spoilers, either by receiving or giving one, Gellar remembered a funny moment she shared with Prinze when she saw him watching “The Sixth Sense,” a film directed by Shyamalan in 1999.

“Twenty minutes into the movie and I said something just like it popped out like ‘oh is that –––,” Gellar recalled before mouthing a huge spoiler. “And my husband didn’t see a movie with me for 15 years.”

Gellar’s story sent the whole crowd laughing, including Foy, Beckett and Norton. Meanwhile, Shyamalan jokingly responded that Prinze was “rightfully” sound for choosing not to watch with Gellar because of her habit of spoiling movies.

“I forgot about that until I just saw you here. Yeah, I'm having PTSD,” Gellar cheerfully confessed.

The actress has been making rounds of promotions since the start of January 2023 as she stages her big comeback to acting. Gellar bagged one of the lead roles in the new Paramount+ series “Wolf Pack.”

Gellar plays a highly regarded expert arson specialist who was brought in by authorities to investigate a massive wildfire that may have led to the reawakening of a supernatural predator causing havoc in Los Angeles.
