Ruth Scully has a memento to remember her child by. It is a bath rug inside her bathroom. To most people, it looks like a normal rug; however, for her, it is a reminder of her son's life.

You see, her son, sick with soft tissue cancer, would never wander too far from his mother's side, so he always laid down on the bath rug while his mother was showering.

The disease first showed itself as a stuffy nose, which parents usually don't pay any mind to. Stuffy noses are usually symptoms of common ailments. It wasn't long until the parents of one child got the bad news: a horrible diagnosis for their child.

Symptoms worsened. One night the baby was having trouble breathing at night. His parented elected to take him to the doctor, where he was given a series of medications for a sinus infection. The boy was given antibiotics, saline spray, and a couple other treatments; none of them worked.

After the cures for a sinus infection failed to work a specialist noticed that Nolan, the small boy, had swollen adenoids. The specialist recommended that the adenoids needed to be removed. The surgery happened in November of 2015. When the tissue was removed tests were done, and it was determined that Nolan had soft tissue cancer. Nolan, at age 3, was subjugated to chemotherapy next.

Nolan, despite medical treatment and prayer, died of his disease on February 4, 2017. It was a hard process for the family of Nolan to accept that he wasn't going to win his battle. The medical team convinced the family to simply end treatment and make Nolan as comfortable as possible. Nolan's mother told him that he didn't have to fight any longer. Nolan reacted as if he had disappointed his mother, but she told him that he would be safe in heaven.

Nolan's mother had gone to shower when his oxygen levels dropped, and he went into a deep sleep. However, when Ruth, Nolan's mother, jumped into bed with her son, Nolan woke up.

That's when Nolan said: "I love you, Mommy." Ruth explained on Facebook that she is terrified to shower because Nolan used to always be there with her, waiting on the bathroom rug. No matter how heart breaking this is for Ruth, Nolan left her with a smile and some very kind words.
