Four Musicians Gather Around A Piano To Play Boogie-Woogie Music In A Subway Station

Brendan Kavanaugh began his professional life as a high school English teacher. He even holds a doctorate in English Literature. After becoming increasingly disappointed in the American educational system, Kavanaugh quit his teaching job and embarked on a new adventure.

Since leaving the classroom, Kavanaugh has moved on to his next career: Dr. K. Boogie Woogie, YouTube superstar. He typically begins each video with the question, “Do you know boogie-woogie?” As he brings a variety of public space pianos to life with the sounds of his favorite music genre.

While YouTube channel viewership is strong, Kavanaugh still loves delighting audiences with impromptu public concerts. He goes to a public piano and gives audiences of all ages and from all walks of life a taste of off-the-cuff, spontaneous song. Kavanaugh’s true home is wherever that boogie-woogie beat meets the street.

During a recent jam session in a subway station, Dr. K. Boogie Woogie delighted onlookers by enlisting the aid of three other men to play with him. Four men from four generations serenaded subway patrons with the energetic and enthusiastic strains of boogie-woogie. At one point, an excited preschooler danced with his mother until she had to pull him away to make their train.
