Former President George W. Bush welcomed his new grandson, Henry Harold Hager into the world this past week. He and former first lady Laura Bush were all smiles as the new grandparents already began doting on their baby grandson.

Today Show co-host Jenna Hager and daughter of the former POTUS George W. Bush just gave birth to her third child and first son. Henry Harold “Hal” Hager was born on the morning of August 2nd, the same day that she announced her maternity leave on-air. The timing was perfect, as though the mom-to-be knew her little Hal was arriving very soon.

The 43rd president expressed his happiness over the little blessing on Instagram writing, “@laurawbush and I are thrilled to welcome Henry Harold Hager to our family. We are happy for the proud parents, @jennabhager and Henry.” The happy parents already have two little girls Poppy, 3,  and Mila, 6.

Bush continued with his praise saying, “And pleased that Mila and Poppy have a little brother to love. We thank God that mom and baby are healthy, and we look forward to many years of loving the boy known as Hal.” Laura Bush also joined in with her husband writing, “We are overjoyed by the birth of our darling grandson. Welcome to our family, Henry Harold “Hal” Hager!”

Hal was born at 9:02 in the morning and measured 19.29 inches, weighing in at 7 lbs 5 oz. His name Henry comes from his dad while his middle name from Harold Welch, Jenna’s grandfather. Grandpa George joked that he was a little mad the baby wasn’t named after him but insisted that Hal “was a cool name,” Jenna told the Today Show.  It was further cemented when Hal’s new sisters nicknamed him “Hal pal.”

The glowing new mother described the moment of pure happiness she experienced the first time she saw Hal:

"I feel good. I feel happy," she said to the Today Show. "You know, I think when you're holed up in a hospital room with a newborn and you see the joy and the light in his eyes, you realize this is what life is for — to make the world better for our little babes."

Our best wishes go out to the young parents, little Hal and of course the grandparents! We hope the little one will have a wonderful future. Join us in our well-wishes and spread the good news!
