Footage Of Babysitter Singing "The Little Mermaid" Takes Internet By Storm

Everyone wants a babysitter that is able to genuinely have fun with their kids during playtime. Delaney Wilson, 18, from Somerset, Massachusetts, babysits for Nicki Maher, 43. One afternoon in June 2021, Maher filmed Wilson singing while she was playing with her daughter. Maher posted the video online, with Wilson's permission, and it has now been viewed more than 13 million times. 

Wilson was playing dolls with Maher's daughter while singing "Part of Your World" from the Disney movie "The Little Mermaid." Maher recorded her secretly and captured a moment of raw natural talent as Wilson belted out the lyrics with her angelic voice. Maher said in the video that Wilson's voice moves her to tears.

Unfortunately, Wilson has received negative comments about her singing and persona online in the past. She said this has really hurt her confidence, but seeing a video where she performed so well without trying, going viral, has greatly boosted her self-esteem. Maher posted the video on Tik Tok and wrote over the footage that she has been trying to encourage Wilson to share her gift more often.

Maher also wrote that Wilson gets discouraged over how she looks in videos, but all that she and her kids see is beauty. She asked viewers to show Wilson some love and positivity so she will sing in more videos. The response was incredible, and with nearly 100,000 comments Wilson was able to see how much joy her gift can bring. Read on to learn more about what is coming in Wilson's future.

Maher has been encouraging Wilson to share her talent more. She told Fox News, "That's when she said to me, 'I just overthink it and I never feel like I sound good enough and I just don't always feel confident in the way I look,'" Maher said. "And it just broke my heart." 

This was when Maher decided she had to find a way to make Wilson see how talented she truly is. She explained, "I said, 'Delaney, you need to hear, like, what I hear. You need to see what I see.'" 

Maher continued, "It's not that she didn't know she had a talent that so many people have already told her she had. It's that she didn't hear it without knowing she was trying or that someone was watching. So that's why the video was so beautiful."

The video was a wake-up call for the babysitter, who had lost confidence over negative comments in the past. Now she was able to see what Maher and the rest of the world sees. Wilson said, "For me, it was like, wow, like I perform so differently when I don't know a camera is pointing at me."

Wilson has decided to pursue music as her path for the future and was recently accepted into Berklee College of Music. Wilson posted a video on her Tik Tok reacting to the news of her acceptance. In the video, you can hear her repeating, "It's OK if I don't, it's OK." But she did it, and now she will have the chance to train and grow her unbelievable talent.
