Service dogs tend to attract a lot of attention wherever they go, but this pooch stole the spotlight in the middle of an airport when she suddenly went into unexpected labor!

Passengers at Tampa International Airport got a major shock as they waited for their flights. Ellie, a two-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, is a dedicated service dog who was escorting her owner on a flight to Philadelphia. Just as they were about to board, passengers at Gate F80 were shocked when the dog suddenly went into labor!

Her owner, Diane Van Atter, and the puppies' father, Golden Nugget, were there to support the new mom. Passengers began to pull out their iPhones and record the live birth. Paramedics from Tampa Fire Rescue was quick to arrive on the scene and assist with the delivery.

After three hours, Ellie successfully delivered a litter of eight healthy, squealing puppies! The newborns were all named after the first-response team who helped bring them into the world. "They have our names of course! And of course, the last one’s Natalie, it’s a girl!" Natalie Brown, one of the paramedics, said in an interview with Fox News 13.

While Ellie and Golden Nugget missed their flight to Philly, no one seemed to mind the delay. After all, there was an adorable reason for not making it onto the plane. Van Atter said that she was excited to simply return home and help her dogs and their little ones settle in.

Since the puppies were just born, air travel was out of the question. The new family would drive back home to ensure their safety. Congratulations to the proud parents and their owner!
