Following King Charles III’s Accession, William And Kate’s Children Have New Titles

Queen Elizabeth II created quite the royal family for herself, as she had four children, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. The family continued to grow thanks to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcoming their second child, and Princess Beatrice had her first child in 2021.
However, tragically, Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Sept. 8th, 2022. She passed away while at her home in Balmoral after Buckingham Palace had earlier announced that she was under medical attention.
Her grandson and his wife, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are some of the most beloved members of the royal family. The parents of three are fan favorites in the UK and abroad, not only for their family values but also for their charity work. At the time of Kate and William’s marriage, the couple had been together for eight years. They started dating at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where the two completed their undergraduate degrees. Since then, the Cambridge couple has been busy building a family that now includes 7-year-old Prince Louis, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte and 12-year-old Prince George.
Being born into the royal family and lifestyle, the three great-grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II were given royal titles as soon as they were born. However, after her passing, the children’s titles changed. With King Charles III moving from royal heir to king, he announced that several members of the royal family’s titles had changed. The children are now second, third, and fourth in line for the royal throne. Their titles have also changed compared to the titles they were given at birth.

Originally the great-grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II were titled Prince George of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, and Prince Louis of Cambridge. However, the three will now be titled Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales, and Prince Louis of Wales.
In King Charles III’s first speech, he said, “Today, I am proud to create him [William] Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty. With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the center ground where vital help can be given.”
According to Insider, the young boy was referred to as “George Cambridge” while he attended Thomas’ Battersea school in London, England. Insider also reported that he has been sure to make his presence known when out and about with his parents on royal engagements, thanks to the funny faces he pulls in front of the cameras.
Prince Louis is an absolutely precious young boy who has also shown his face when out in public with his famous family. He has made several appearances, including an outing at Trooping the Colour and on the royal family’s official Instagram page. Even though he is still young, Louis has a strong impact on the family as he is fifth in line for the throne.
Middle child Princess Charlotte attended Willcocks Nursery School in Kensington, according to Insider. However, she later moved to Lambrook School in Windsor in 2022.

The Insider reported that Charlotte is the first royal female in the family to her current spot in line for the throne due to the Succession to the Crown Act of 2013. The act replaced the male-preference primogeniture with absolute primogeniture, meaning that girls could now be ahead of their brothers in line for the crown if they were born before them. Charlotte is currently third in line to the throne, one place behind George and one place in front of Louis.
The three children, as well as their parents, have had quite a bit of change in such a short amount of time. Released in August of 2022, a senior royal source told ABC News that the royal couple wants to give their children a normal upbringing by moving out of London and into the countryside of Berkshire. “As the children get older and more independent you can see why they would feel they have more breathing space in Windsor,” the source shared. Not only is the cottage more family-friendly compared to Kensington Palace, but it is also closer to Kate’s family.
“This move puts them much closer to the Middletons and Kate is very close to her family,” the source shared. “It also emulates in many ways the upbringing (Kate) had in rural Berkshire, which she has spoken fondly of and I think has always had a big influence over how the Cambridges have shaped their family life.”
The four-bedroom home was originally built in 1831 and was known for being a tea house for Queen Adelaide. According to Vogue, in 1941, the cottage became a home that the queen lent to royal family members or staff. The home is only big enough for the royal family and no live-in staff.
