Flint The Adorable Bobcat Finds Forever Home

Flint is a small bobcat that was brought to Big Cat Rescue after being injured from a run-in with hunting dogs. He suffered injuries that affected his ability to walk and maneuver around as a young kitten. During his rehabilitation at Big Cat Rescue, it was found that Flint suffered bone deformities that could permanently cause him issues with walking and running like other bobcats. It was also found that he suffered damage to his pelvis that could prevent him from passing larger prey that are a common food source for his species.

With his injuries, it was uncertain if Flint would be able to support himself in the wild and survive. There was much stress as to where he would be be able to go once his rehabilitation was done. He continued to make progress during his time and was able to eventually move and run about his enclosure. As he continued to progress and get stronger, it was unsure about what the next steps for Flint would be. Due to his severe injuries, Flint was not a candidate for release back in to the wild.

Since he had made such great improvements during his stay and had few options about his future, Big Cat Rescue requested approval from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to allow Flint to become a permanent resident at the sanctuary. It is not a life in the wild that Flint was born into, but with his injuries it is a place he can get the care needed.

It took about a week for Flint to get adjusted to his new habitat, but he has been flourishing ever since. Thanks to the donations made to Big Cat Rescue, he has been provided with plenty of toys and enrichment items to keep him active. Flint is now enjoying stay in the sanctuary and with multiple cameras positioned his fans are a able to watch him play. He will most likely need medical help in the future, but thanks to the sanctuary he has all the access he will need.

It has been a rough road for Flint so far, and his issues are most likely not ending in the near future. With the staff and facilities at Big Cat Rescue able to watch and care for him Flint has a bright future ahead of him.
