Five-Year-Old Is Tired Of His Mother's Rules And Packs A Bag To Move Out

In an adorably cute and touching video from 2015, a boy decides he is moving out of his parents' home "for real." He has had enough of his mother's rules and is now going to strike out on his own. That is not such an unusual endeavor until you realize that the boy is five years old.

With his backpack securely strapped, and his sandals latched, he bids farewell to his mother. "Where are you going?" she asks. Why, of course, he is going to move into a trailer that he doesn't have. Mom continues to ask questions about his plans, and he doesn't always have a real answer. A few times, he says that he can't tell her that information. In summary, however, he is going to quit school, go to work, and order food. In the meantime, receiving comfort from the "toys and stuffed animals" in his backpack should be enough for him to get by for the short-term.

Perhaps coming to grips with reality after his mother's line of questioning, the 5-year-old slowly walks away from the door. Perhaps he is not as prepared for this journey as his mind led him to believe. He doesn't have the money to order food and doesn't have a trailer to live in. Even worse, he will have to say goodbye to kindergarten buddies. That thought may have been too much, and his short-lived idea of freedom from rules fell by the wayside. But, never one to give up the idea of moving out, he revamps his plans.

He switches up his reasoning for wanting to leave. The house is the problem, and they should all move out together. His parents can come with him, and his mother can do the cooking. (There was no mention of his baby brother, but it is assumed that he can come, too.) In preparation for the upcoming move, he asks his mother to pack just a little bag, and she laughingly refuses. So, the 5-year-old comes to terms with reality. Independence will have to wait. As a sign of abandoning his dream, he pulled the straps of his backpack over his arms to take if off. But, his mother reminds him of her love, and at the end, welcomes him "back home."

Although the answers to his mother's questions came from his inexperience and innocence, he had the courage to dream big. He thought he could do it even though in reality, he had zero chance of success. That positive mindset, coupled with the willingness to do the work, is the attitude that propels dreamers. So, despite's the young boy's postponement of his dream, there are lessons to be learned. One of them is that when no one tells you that you can't do it, you think you can. And, many succeed.

Even though he will wait a little longer to recognize his dream, society just may hear about this little guy when he's a much bigger guy. He has shown that he can dream big and not be afraid to try. Maybe one day he will be very successful and move his parents (and younger brother) out of that house for a new and improved one. Dreamers have done incredible things.
