The unexpected discovery of a litter of orphaned kittens in a storm drain in the Staten Island area of New York held a secondary surprise. Although there were five rescued kittens, one was much smaller than his siblings, so much so that there was a concern that he may not live through the night.

The kittens were only two weeks old, and most weighed just over 220 grams, however, the smaller kitten weighed less by 100 grams. Their new foster mom had her hands full trying to care for so many young kittens, and the tiniest kitten presented a special challenge.

The runt kitten, who was dubbed Henry by his foster mom, required constant care. His new foster mom fed him through a tiny tube and kept him warm 24 hours a day for several days in a last-ditch effort to keep him alive. Her efforts paid off, and the tiny kitten slowly began to thrive and grow.

Although Henry is still smaller than his siblings, he is very vocal and meows loudly to let his foster mom know when he is hungry or simply wants to be cuddled. His foster mom says that Henry tries to keep up with his larger siblings, and loves to have his ears scratched.

Henry's story of survival against all odds is a welcome reminder that miracles happen every day. What are your thoughts about Henry's amazing recovery? Be sure to send this article to a friend who needs confirmation that sometimes things turn out much better than we thought they would.
