In 1964, when Gail Wise bought her sky-blue Ford Mustang Convertible, she was 22 years old. As she grew up, she kept the car. She and her husband continued to drive the car until it finally broke down after 15 years of use.

Gail's husband Tom kept it in his garage afterward because he intended to fix it up when he had some spare time. It wasn't until he retired that he began searching online for parts. This is when he encountered a story about a person who said they had the first Mustang that anyone had ever bought. The story said that the car was purchased on April 16th, 1964, according to USA Today.

Tom realized that his wife had bought her car one day prior to that, so hers might actually be the first one ever purchased. He went and told his wife that he believed she bought her car a day before the one in the story.

Tom was someone who liked to hold onto things, so it turned out that he still had her receipt for the blue mustang. As they suspected, hers was purchased on the 15th, a day before the one claiming to have been the first one ever bought.

They had all the paperwork necessary to prove that Gail owned the first Mustang ever sold. When news got to Ford Motor Company, they invited the couple to attend the celebration of the 10 millionth Mustang sold.

Gail purchased her car before it was intended to go on the sales floor. Even though the car was supposed to be kept a secret, the salesman sold it to her anyway. The town was very interested in seeing this new sporty car. To this day, it only has 68,000 miles.

Gail told USA Today that she loved driving the car when she was still young. At the time, the highways were in better condition, and there was very little traffic. She was able to unleash the speed of the car without any worries.

Gail also explained that sports cars were expensive, but the Mustang was affordable for her to buy, unlike others of its kind. In those days, the car looked very sporty with a stick-shift on the floor and bucket seats.

The value of this rare vehicle is said to be worth up to $450,000 or more. The couple still prefers to buy Ford vehicles, and they own 2 family cars made by the company.
