First-Time Parents Sharing The Same Birthday Welcomed First Child On Their Birthday

It’s uncommon, but not completely rare, for a couple to share the same birthday. But have you ever heard of a couple sharing the same birthday as well as their child? If you haven’t yet, here’s an interesting story about a child who was born on the same day as her parents’ special day.

On November 18, 2022, Simone Milner marked her 29th birthday, while her partner, Matthew Leigh, celebrated his 40th birthday on the same day. Fifteen days before their birthday, Simone thought she and Matthew would get an advanced birthday gift with the birth of their baby. But she didn’t arrive on time – which was supposed to be on November 3 – following the midwife’s recommendation.

Instead, Simone gave birth to their bundle of joy – named Alma Leigh – on their natal day, November 18, describing her as the “most special birthday gift.”

 “It would have been a really special day whenever she arrived, but this was amazing. She’s the best birthday gift ever. You can’t do better than that, and it really is a special day now,” Simone told Wales Online.

Simone went on to share that she felt as if her daughter chose to arrive on the same day as their birthday.

“It was such a far cry her being 15 days overdue. It’s almost like she made a choice to come on our birthday,” she remarked.

According to Wales Online, Simone went on a 12-hour overnight labor so the doctors advised a c-section instead.

A day after she gave birth, Matthew took to social media to share the awesome news about their child’s birth. A first-time dad, Matthew said nothing is going to top his daughter’s birthday.

“Whilst simultaneously becoming a Dad for the first time. And to boot, for the first of many, I celebrated my birthday with now not only my partner BUT ALSO MY DAUGHTER,” Matthew wrote. 

Matthew admitted that he had been feeling stressed and anxious days before their baby’s birth.

“I’ve been awake 39 hours and counting So I’m definitely not in the right place at this moment to process it all and write in my usual style but some things don’t need fancy prose to tell the story. I can’t remember ever feeling this much stress & anxiety,” he stated.

But he said it was definitely worth it as he turned emotional when the doctor told him that his partner successfully welcomed their bundle of joy.

“I was on the verge of tears a number of times these last couple of days. But as I heard the doctor welcome her into the world ‘well hello there little lady’. And I heard her let out a tiny little cry as she took her first breathe. I couldn’t contain the emotion, nor did I want to,” he said.

Matthew shared some of the first moments he shared with his daughter, saying he couldn’t wait to share more memories with her.

“I can’t put her down. I can’t stop kissing her. I can’t stop touching her hand, her nose, her skin. She’s perfect in every way. She is beautiful. And we’ve already shared a first sneeze and a first yawn,” he said.

“I’m so excited for your first everything everyday forever! Although I’m not gonna lie I could have done without that first nappy after the night I’ve had,” he added.

It’s true what Matthew said – now, it won’t be hard for them to remember the special day in their lives.
