First-Time Mom Returns To Doctor For Scan After Feeling Unusually Different Weeks After Childbirth

Various phenomena surround childbirth and parenthood. Sometimes, women get their periods while pregnant. There is also the mystery of cryptic pregnancies where the mom doesn’t even know she’s expecting usually until the day of delivery.

A Sydney, Australia, mom, Eliza Curby, was barely six weeks into being a new mother when she discovered something unusual about her body. Eliza's body was preparing for another baby just as she took care of her newborn. Yet, she was pleasantly surprised.

The young mom welcomed her first child, Charlie, in January 2016 with her spouse, Ben Curby. Months later, in the same year, the couple had twins. Eliza became a media sensation in 2017 after news got out on how she gave birth to three babies within one year.

Eliza became pregnant with her first child three months after she began dating Ben. She revealed to news.com.au how she and her boyfriend started a family:

"Ben had always been super keen to become a father so we were over the moon at the thought of creating our own little family."

Although Eliza's boyfriend's idea of a family included just two children, the mom always hoped for a bigger family. After giving birth to her first child, Charlie, she was always exhausted, and people pinned it on the stress of having a newborn. She revealed:

"Everyone told me it was sleep deprivation catching up with me but I was not convinced – I remember looking at Ben and saying 'I think I'm pregnant.'"

Eliza took a pregnancy test at first, which came out negative. However, over the course of about two weeks, it took four pregnancy tests for her to see that she was indeed pregnant.

The young couple went to the hospital for an ultrasound, which confirmed the pregnancy, but it did not only do that but gave them one of the biggest surprises of their life. Eliza revealed:

"The technician seemed awkward and uncomfortable, before he finally said … 'look it's early days … but … I think there's two.’"

Although the news was difficult to come to terms with, considering the couple would have three children within a year, Eliza was still happy to have identical twins. However, it felt like they had triplets when the twins, Jack and Wolfe, were born in December 2016 because they had to buy three of everything. Motherhood has not been easy for Eliza, and she puts down her experience by documenting it on a blog called Twingenuity during her free time.

Nearly a year after she had her twins, the mom of three spoke to Femail about her motherhood experiences. Having three children under two years definitely took a toll on Eliza. Although motherhood is a phase where you keep on learning to become better, the mom of three was beginning to find a way to take care of her three children.

Eliza recommends that first-time moms should not "overthink the whole parenting thing," "find your parenting style and own it," and comprehend that they would always require any aid they can get and can't handle it alone.

Although having three kids within a short period of time was difficult, Eliza revealed that having them so young was "hugely rewarding.” This was because seeing her three children interacting and growing together made her happy. She revealed to 7 News that her spouse was not on board, but she does welcome the idea of more children.
