First Responders Rescue Fawn That Managed To Fall Down A Hole

On the morning of May 20, the Hackettstown Fire Department and Police Department in New Jersey assisted with rescuing a fawn that was trapped approximately five feet down a hole at a residence on Valentine Street.

Everyone understands that first responders have difficult jobs. They see people on the worst days of their lives. Often, they're arresting someone, or dealing with someone who's been horribly injured. While their work is important, it's also easy to see how it can be extremely draining. That's why it's so nice to see evidence of an incident where not only did everyone win, they got to see a sweet baby animal, too.

A Fawn Gets Stuck

It all started off in a residential area in New Jersey. In the Northeast, there are plenty of trees and woods. And that kind of landscape always attracts woodland creatures like deer. In fact, there are so many deer that some of them stray into residential areas looking for food. That's probably how this incident got started.

When the first responders showed up, they found a baby deer trapped in a hole. This whole incident unfolded right by a house. The hole was small and awkward, and the poor fawn couldn't work its way out. Even when the first responders arrived, there wasn't very much they could do. For a few minutes, it looked bleak. Would they be able to get the poor thing out of the hole before it or they hurt it?

Finding a Solution

Luckily, first responders are inventive. They know all about finding the right tool to get the job done. When a human is trapped in an elevator or a car, they grab a hydraulic tool to peel the metal back.

When a deer is trapped in a hole in the ground, they get someone with a backhoe on the scene. With the careful operation of the huge powered tool, it was a simple matter to move enough earth to free the little fawn by hand.

There's nothing quite as sweet as seeing the little fawn finally be freed by a first responder. He knows exactly how to comfort the baby animal, giving it a sweet snuggle. This video has already been viewed by thousands who love brave first responders and baby animals. It's every good thing about America rolled into one little clip!
