First-Graders Dress Up As Sweet Cowboys And Cowgirls For 'Achy Breaky Heart' Line Dance

The music that children listen to today can sometimes feel miles away from what music used to sound like many years ago, such as some of the greats from the 1990s. While people who were born in the 1990s are now old enough to have kids of their own, it’s amazing to think about the fact that there are some young ones out there that thoroughly enjoy music from several decades ago.
A first-grade class from Rosewood Elementary showed just how much they love one of the most popular songs from the 1990s by dancing to it right in front of their excited and supportive parents. The students danced to “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus – a hit from 1992. The song became known as Cyrus’ signature song and easily became a crossover hit on both pop and country radio stations.
Since its release, there have been several covers of “Achy Breaky Heart” and videos of people performing the iconic line dance that goes along with the song. There have also been a handful of remixes of the track, including a remix featuring Cyrus’ daughter Noah. Still, none quite compare to the original version.
A video of a first-grade class performing a line dance to the crossover hit was uploaded to YouTube back in September 2010 and has continued to capture the hearts of everyone who watches it. While their dance moves may not have been completely perfect, the children looked excited to move and groove to “Achy Breaky Heart” while also showing off their amazing cowboy outfits.

Putting their best foot forward, a class of first-grade students performed a line dance to “Achy Breaky Heart” by Cyrus. According to Country Rebel, the children were born years after the song first came out, but that didn’t seem to stop them from enthusiastically dancing along to the upbeat tempo. On top of that, the kids also wore cowboy hats, and some even wore cowboy boots and bandanas to really complete the look!
“Achy Breaky Heart” was responsible for the line dance craze back in the 1990s, as per Country Rebel. It’s clear that the dance move is still pretty popular today, judging by how well this group of students danced to Cyrus’ signature song.
In the video from September 2010, it was almost hard to hear the song because of how loud the children’s parents were as they cheered them on during their performance. Many of the kids nailed the moves and looked thrilled as they happily moved their feet. Their rhythm may have been slightly off at times, but it was evident that everyone was having a blast. Many of the students really gave it their all as they tapped their feet and spun around. Although one little girl fell for a split second, she got right back up and continued dancing.
Since its upload, the video has garnered more than 650,000 views and plenty of positive comments. One person said, “The little girl with the pink jacket and red hat and boots has this down pat!” Another added, “Wow!! How fun!!” A third person commented, “This is just too cute!!!! Loved it!!”
