Firefighters Take On Lip-Sync Challenge But They Bring Dance Moves As Well

Everyone deserves a break from work every now and then. Finding time to relax and even have some fun at work can definitely help the days go by a little faster. It can also help you develop close friendships with your coworkers. Whether your job is incredibly hard, dangerous or challenging, it’s important to take some time to enjoy yourself to help with your overall mental health and productivity.

A group of firefighters in Mapaville, Missouri, took some time away from their incredibly busy and dangerous job to have a little fun with each other. They tried their hand at a lip-sync challenge that had been taking the internet by storm thanks to some impressive performances from front-line workers such as police officers, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and other firefighters.

The way the challenge works is that someone, or a group of people, is challenged to lip-sync along to a song of their choice. The extent of the performance is completely up to the challenged individual. Once that person completes the challenge, he or she then challenges someone else, and the cycle continues.

Not only did this group of firefighters from Mapaville lip-sync perfectly along to their selected songs, but they also busted out some stellar dance moves — and more impressive choreography to make the routine even more fun to watch. Even though the video is from August 2018, it is still making waves across the internet today as people can’t help but be captivated by the upbeat and dedicated performance the firefighters showcased.

The Mapaville Fire Protection District took on the #LipSyncChallenge in August 2018. In the description of the video they uploaded to YouTube, they also challenged other people, such as the Hematite Fire Protection District, Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. In order to challenge all of these other important workers, the firefighters needed to show off their own skills in the lip-syncing department, and boy did they deliver.

The key to a successful performance is a great playlist and some impressive choreography to further enhance the song. By picking three different songs, the Mapaville Fire Protection District was able to showcase more of their personalities and talents. Not only did they show off their great taste in music, but they also were able to share their sense of humor with the rest of the world.

Starting off with a fun skit about how to go about the task at hand, the video quickly shifted to the main event — the lip-sync challenge. The opening notes of “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys began playing as three firefighters dressed in their uniforms, sans the heavy coats, were positioned in front of a large red fire truck. The vehicle’s lights flashed red and blue as the three firefighters sang and danced along to the classic song from 1999. Moving their entire bodies without missing a beat, the firefighters took on the choreography with a state of conviction, as they didn’t seem to worry about how fantastic or terrible they looked; they just wanted to perform to the best of their abilities while still having plenty of fun.

The video suddenly cut back to the skit about what song the group should perform to complete the required challenge. Since it seemed like the panel of judges wasn’t on board with the Backstreet Boys’ song, a different firefighter had his own idea about what song they should try next.

Once again the video was edited to show another unbelievable routine from the Mapaville Fire Protection District. Throwing it back even more, a set of firefighters lip-synced along to the 1975 song “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen, all the while popping out of a fire truck. The men took their shot at being a superstar like frontman Freddie Mercury as they mouthed the words in unison, perfectly capturing the audience with their pretend vocal range.

Surprisingly, that song wasn’t the strongest contender, so the group moved on to yet another performance, this time with one of the female firefighters leading the pack. “It’s Raining Men” by the musical duo the Weather Girls played as the firefighters sprayed their hoses at each other and ran in slow-motion.

As the video progressed, the group performed even more songs, including “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees, which had a CPR demonstration. To finish off their busy routine, the firefighters lip-synced along to the 1990 song “U Can’t Touch This” by MC Hammer. Even though they shied away from wearing parachute pants, they still performed the iconic shuffle. In true hero fashion, the firefighters ended the fun, performance-filled video with a sweet thank you to everyone who watched their video.
