A Clearfield, Utah mother and daughter were rear-ended as they were driving to grandma's house. Firefighters were dispatched to assist those affected by the accident. Although, there were no injuries, the daughter who was only a small child was very upset about the ordeal, to calm her down the firefighters let her paint their fingernails.

It wasn't about applying bandages or even asking the little girl what she had just experienced. No, Battalion Chief Allen Hadley and Captain Kevin Lloyd inherently knew the first task at have was to do what was necessary to calm the little girl and remove her fears as much as possible. They proceeded to get down on their knees to the little girl's level and started chatting about anything other than the accident.

As the little girl began opening up, the two firefighters took note of the bottle of fingernail polish the little girl was holding. What took place next was heartwarming.

According to the North Davis Fire District, “These two officers started talking to her about her polish and asked her if she would paint their nails. Within minutes, the child was calmly painting their nails and had forgotten about the accident she had just experienced.”

The incident finally made it to Facebook in a post. Reacting to the post on behalf of the fire department was Fire Chief Mark Becraft, who addressed the department's training program that stresses the importance of compassion and customer service.

In response to the post, Becraft stated: "Kudos to these great guys that serve our community, it's just the little things that make a huge difference."

Other touching posts from Local North Davis residents signaled praise and approval of the firefighter's actions. According to one resident on the post, “I have long had the utmost respect for first responders and firefighters but this is unparalleled. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity. May God bless you and those you love.”
