It is impossible not to hear about the massive volume of forest fires and brush fires that have been rising in number throughout the world. These are incredibly tragic occurrences, and it can’t help but make you appreciate the world’s firefighters who risk their own lives to save others and their homes.

One particular firefighter went above and beyond to show his commitment to the people whose homes and belongings he and his team saved after putting out a bushfire that would have burned the man’s house to the ground if it wasn’t contained and eventually extinguished.

As reported in The Metro, Paul Sefky, was able to return to his unburned home in Yarranbella, located on the New South Wales Mid-North Coast, and found a particularly interesting note. Paul shared the note on social media and it almost immediately went viral.

One of the firefighters left a note saying that it was their team’s pleasure to save his house and apologized for not being able to save Paul’s shed. That alone is incredibly thoughtful.

However, the note also included a conclusion that simply read, “P.S. we owe you some milk.” This was after the worn-out firefighters drank some from his fridge. Paul included text in his social media post that said, “You people ROCK BIG TIME.”

Paul was, understandably elated when he was able to return to his home and find that it was completely unharmed, thanks to the hard work of the dedicated firefighters.

He couldn’t believe that these brave firefighters would even think about replacing the minimal amount of milk that they drank while putting themselves in harm’s way to save the home of a complete stranger.

Paul’s post of the amazing note garnered more than 1.3 million views on Facebook.

One of the firefighters, Kale Hardie-Porter, who was among the four firefighters that beat the fire happened to see the post and said he was glad Paul received the note and that it had made his day to see it on Facebook.

He also noted how unfortunate it was that the two sheds on Paul’s property burnt immediately while the firefighters were forced to take refuge inside Paul’s house.

Firefighters are incredibly brave people, running toward dangerous flames, rather than away from them as most people would. How impressive is it that these firefighters would even consider leaving a note for something as simple as drinking some milk? This story brings so much joy and gratitude - pass it along to anyone who could use some joy today!
